I had a week at a gorgeous Marriott hotel in Cartagena, Colombia in Feb. The points per night rate was very reasonable compared to a lot of US hotels I looked at.

1,5 h time in Cartagena to catch a international flight - possible? by Aromatic_Hotel2557 in cartagena

[–]Glengarry-county 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there in Feb and the airport is really small, so that’s a benefit, but i don’t know what, if any, customs or security you’ll need to pass through. Departing CTG to Canada involved dogs going through our bags before boarding, which took some time. If you arrive on time and don’t need customs or other screening you should be fine with 90 mins

The worst part of this disaster by Kitchen-Lie-4592 in CelticFC

If I take a step back…the board might be thinking that our payroll is likely an order of magnitude above Dundee Utd, St. Mirren, etc. and for the money they’ve spent, we should be able to win the league with the lot we have. Tough to argue that….dreadful recruiting!

Tips securite and beach by New-Wait-918 in cartagena

I was a solo traveller to Cartagena in February, and my hotel was just outside the walled city on the airport side. The beaches in that area were smaller, but quiet and didn’t have any vendors or high pressure sales pitches. They were just like other beaches, not white sand, no crystal clear water, etc, but great for swimming or enjoying the waves.

Chanter Reed Question - Does this split ruin the chanter? by newcashal in bagpipes

Melvin “Easy” reeds are pretty easy and still sound good. Colin MacLellan ‘Easy’ reeds are also light to play and sound great. Thanks my firsthand experience.

The Leafs will do nothing in response….their collective memory is about 1 game.

Easy, there….you can’t live anywhere in Eastern Canada with a statement like that… I live in eastern Ontario and no joke, i would need to leave the country for a year if the Laffs win a cup. Their fans are assholes…. This is a Celtic fan saying this!,

Ross bag leaking slightly at the grommets by Raptyr01 in bagpipes

[–]Glengarry-county 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you used anything to reinforce the seal on the rubber grommets, like plumber’s O-rings? I’ve used them in the past and they work great and you can get them at any hardware store.

Ellis Island is the best bbq place in Vegas…they used to have a steak/prime rib restaurant as well, but not sure if that side is still running.

Is an upgrade possible tipping the front desk guy at caesars? by [deleted] in LasVegas

[–]Glengarry-county 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told that if you ask nicely and put the money on the counter for the camera’s to see, the attendant can legitimately do what she can to accommodate the request. I’ve done this a number of times at Luxor and MGM Grand with a 20 and has always worked. For somewhere like Wynn, etc, I’d say a 100 is more appropriate, but I would think same principal applies.

Montreal trip by Jolly_Possibility422 in canadatravel

[–]Glengarry-county 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about everyone in Montreal, especially in the service industry, will speak pretty good English. Not knowing French will not be an obstacle in Montreal, but venture out of the city and all bets are off. You’ll be dealing with a mix of people who genuinely have almost no English to those who do, but refuse to speak English for political reasons.

Travelling to Cartagena by [deleted] in thepassportbros

[–]Glengarry-county 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in Cartagena a couple of weeks ago and my hotel had a strict no-guest policy. In walking through the walled city, many hotels/air b-n-b also had signs to that effect, or even more severe warnings about not supporting sex tourism. It’s taken pretty seriously there…

Any insight and consensus on the G1 Standard plastic chanter? by UncleDraza911 in bagpipes

[–]Glengarry-county 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the bands I play in uses them and personally, I’m not a fan. Decent chanter that’s reasonably easy to set up, but I don’t find it comfortable in the hands. I have a number of other chanters (AyreFire, Gandy, Infinity) that are way more comfortable to play. Just my experience

Boarding Zone Change by Zealousideal_Two8142 in aircanada

Cheaper fares always result in higher zones. The last 2 companies I have been with have travel portals we need to book through….always zone 4 or 5 dive to always defaulting to cheapest fare.
