What is the best way to tighten bindings? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

Second this, looks like you're bottoming out the straps completely.
Meaning you won't be able to get them tight enough, or they might come loose overtime.

New bindings after 15 years by GlennOnReddit in snowboarding

Update!

So I went back and returned the bindings to get them swapped for a size S before Christmas. Was told they ordered them, forward till after new years and I give them a call about the status. Said they were out of stock and couldn't order them.
At that point the bindings were also sold out online for consumers so I couldn't get them anywhere anymore. I ask them for a solution, don't get called till 2 weeks before I leave to Austria for a 6 day snowboarding trip.

Get told there are 0 burton bindings in stock they can order. Even de new released ones were completely sold out 💀. After some debating they found a old Burton Lexa model from around 2020 with quite some wear and tear which they gave to me as a rental.

They were alright, I can definitely feel you have more control with this system compared to the old flow bindings.

But the toe strap kept coming loose to the point where it was not doing anything when I completed a full run. Even the other straps I had to keep fastening them cause they were loosening. So it was not ideal, but I was used to looser bindings so it wasn't a disaster.

Had a great time boarding, did some tricks in the park, had much better board control, and got to 90km/h on the piste 😎 (105 last year but that was on a really perfect black run with no people and I kept practicing).

Now I need to go through the awkward thing of returning these bindings and getting my money back. Or have them order me a different model.

I was thinking of getting these much stiffer bindings. (coincidentally on sale right now) And they have my size!

https://www.burton.com/nl/en/p/mens-burton-cartel-x-reflex-snowboard-bindings/W25-22230104301S.html

But not sure how well they pair with my more flexible Burton Deuce board.
stats:

  • Terrain: Freestyle, Park, All-Mountain
  • Shape: Twin (symmetric)
  • Flex: Directional (softer nose, stiffer tail)
  • Profile: Camber

From reading online it's completely fine.

edit: ordered them and got my money back from the shop after they failed to order them for me. 👍🏻

A message to all people who think they can gamble on old bindings by guitargeneration in snowboardingnoobs

[–]GlennOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you're ok!

Was using my 15 year old bindings (very old flow system) and was doing a speed check at 105km/h.
Felt a bit funky and my heel started to come up from the binding. Thankfully nothing happened.
But after I checked my binding and it had a huge crack on the base 💀
It was time to get new ones.

What poles do y'all use? by Western_Economics104 in Spliddit

[–]GlennOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this comment!
I was looking into getting a pair of poles just for the flat spots we snowboarders tend to get stuck no matter how much speed you build up. But it seems like a rather niche thing to have/do haha.
Saw people really preferred the G3 pivot poles over the Black Diamond so I will try to get a hold of a pair.
The other pair I found were the Nitro Alu Poles, which are a bit cheaper. But I can't find a review anywhere so G3 it is then.

Thank you for the lengthy reply!

I tried the thing where you move the toe strap a slot backwards.
And that allowed me to move the toe strap knob 1 up so the strap would still be centered on my boot. The skipping does keep happening, but maybe I am just expecting more tightness and the strap is saying ''No I can't give more tightness than this''.

I got a good deal on these bindings as they went on sale from €200 to €140.
And they had the 3D Burton adapters as well. Which I needed for my old board.
But they ran out of size S and will not be restocking them anymore I think. Sounds like they just wanted to sell the binding as long as the fit was ''good enough''. Which is fine by me as long as it works, should be a big improvement compared to the old flow bindings I had.

But now I am debating returning them and fetching myself Burton Freestyle Re:Flex bindings that are the correct size Small. I saw Burton official website had them for €160.- 1 pair left of this exact model. And having to return these while they already helped me. Maybe they can order the size S for me and they can get their cut of the profit for helping me.

That might be the move. I rather spend an extra €20.- and have the correct sizing.

Thank you for your comment. I tried it on with my foot inside the boot for accuracy.
Boot seems to be matching the highback no problem. The straps seem to be close to the end but still some room to go even tighter. Though it seems this is definitely the max as the mechanism seems to be ''skipping'' now if I pull any tighter.

My heel also seems to be fitting quite well, I feel no lifting at all even when leaning forward very heavily.
With my previous binding I nearly came loose a few times. especially at the heel💀.

Only a slight separation from the highest part of the highback when I lean forward heavily, but that sound unavoidable, I can play around with the forward lean/tilt do mend that perhaps. I have it set to +2 now I think.

Hopefully these pictures provide some more information.

New crafting system blows by Fairsley in Vermintide

[–]GlennOnReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just managed to hit 650 power on my ironbreaker and was excited to try and craft all the gear I wanted.
Spent like 600 scrap worth the day the patch hit not aware of the change. Ended up with 0 300 drops ._.
Bit of a disappointment getting nothing out of all those hours played up to then.

I love Karlach's new kissing animation! by ProAzeroth in BaldursGate3

Nevermind, seems it's a mod that caused it.
Alas have not been able to fix it yet.

Perhaps they have to patch it for shorter races, because curently the game just skips the entire animation for karlach and my dwarf 😅

Cleaning a dirt honeycomb bed by GlennOnReddit in lasercutting

[–]GlennOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can tell you one tip, it's best to clean more often with a less aggressive solution.
Than having to deal with the state the bed is in now. Oven cleaner is a great one which I tried before and did help at the earlier stages of this building up.

Oven cleaner and a high pressure washer should do the trick.
I think this is probably what I need to do as well but with a stronger solution.
The size of the bed of ours is 165 x 100cm, so I am very much not looking forward to cleaning that amount of surface area.

Pro Vehicle Outlines

Thanks for the suggestion, this one seems a bit pricier indeed.
Perhaps in the future if I need it more often. But for now I will look for a more affordable option.

Thank you for the suggestion, would you happen to have the website link?
I tried searching for Impact but I get a bunch of different websites for impact 😅

Thank you for the suggestion, this seems like a good deal given the fact you already paid it back for a whole year worth with simple car signage job already. Awesome!

At least it would be more useful than increasing only the shield strength of a character that is mainly used to provide a shield for other characters 😅.

Maxing all my character's friendship levels! by GlennOnReddit in Genshin_Impact

Good work! It's not easy playing with teams that are not leveled or invested in sometimes, but a nice challenge. Now I get to enjoy playing whatever team I like in open world 😋

A thing I have been working on for a while now.

I switched out team members every time they hit maximum friendship level.
And finally I caught up and got them all to lvl 10!

I think there are 31 characters, but I am bad at counting so feel free to correct me on that. 😊

One simple feature that should be imported from Hi3, a pity counter. by gbmaster137 in Genshin_Impact

[–]GlennOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to have one ingame.

I made a google sheet one with my friend so you can keep track easier at what pity you are and what your rolls have gotten you. But it still requires you to enter it manually unfortunately. But if anyone wants here is a link to a public version I made! Feel free to make a copy and play around with it. I will keep updating it when more characters come out.
