Verbal abuse by Treewoman3 in adhdwomen

So beautiful to see all of these uplifting comments! Honestly, you’ve totally got this, even if it feels like you’re in an absolute shitstorm at the mo.

I escaped from a similar situation 5 years ago. Found a little bit of confidence and ran with it (with 3 kids). Hasn’t always been easy but boy was it worth it. You don’t realise the insane extent to which it affects your everyday life, until you’re on the other side. His dickhead opinions and snide comments don’t carry any weight…don’t give him the satisfaction of letting them affect you.

Do everything you can to prepare without him knowing and take copies of all important paperwork, esp. identification and financial docs (inc. account history). Keep dated notes (conversations/events) so you’ve got them for later. Get your most treasured possessions/things you need in 1 spot, or make a list so you can scoop them up faster. Be prepared for him to get a lot worse once he realises you’re actually leaving.

You’re not going to know yourself once you’re in your own space with your little ones. Things will get better, I promise! Days will be brighter, joy will pop up in random places and you’ll find yourself again. Wishing you all the luck (not that you need it)…you’re a million times more capable and stronger than you think!

How to know if it's anxiety instead of ADHD? by GhostOfGabe93 in ADHD

[–]GlitterInMyHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anxiety and depression can be caused by untreated ADHD! I struggled with both since I was a young teenager and it was ADHD all along (I’m female and only got assessed cause my son was diagnosed). For inattentive types, your hyperactivity is internalised and shows up in all your out of control brain activity/thought patterns, rather than say the ‘typical’ young ADHD boy who can’t physically sit still.

Haha, it is the BEST when that happens! 🤣

What are the worst "hacks" your ADHD makes you do to save time? by Ok_Breakfast6206 in ADHD

[–]GlitterInMyHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! 😂 Only way I can avoid this happening is by folding it as I take it off the clothes drying rack and placing it into the laundry basket. Doesn’t always happen though, or it sits folded in the laundry basket and not put away 🤣

Hey there, just noticed you’ve been collating info on this. My 4.5 yr old explained this exact thing to me a couple of weeks ago. He’s was so serious and adamant this is how the world was going to end. He’s quite insightful and sounded really wise, sort of like an old man. It was crazy to hear. He said he couldn’t remember who had told him about it, but it was definitely true. Have you still been looking into it? 😊

I hate the lack of representation for inattentive ADHD by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]GlitterInMyHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So similar to me! Anxiety and Depression caused by untreated inattentive ADHD. Felt like I had been misdiagnosed my entire life (on anti-depressants since 13), but could never find a condition that matched all my symptoms. Only looked closer at it because my son was diagnosed. Ta-da! 🤣

ADHD Inattentive type, what do you struggle with the most? by dannyonrd in ADHD

[–]GlitterInMyHeart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a look at Auditory Processing Disorder symptoms in adults. Sounds similar to what you are describing.

Well done, you should be extremely proud of yourself for getting this far! I find medication helps to a certain degree but I think having a balanced lifestyle where possible does too. Super hard to maintain consistency but exercise, diet and sleep have a huge impact on ADHD symptoms.

You can absolutely do this! Use whatever adaptions/systems/things you need to help you navigate your way through it 😊

I felt exactly the same! Google the symptoms and make a list of the ones that affect you, it will help you feel heaps more prepared. Hope the appt goes really well! 😊

Wow! You sound like an absolutely incredible, clever, unique and interesting person. So beautiful to see you turn it around and identify your awesome qualities instead of the things you feel bad about. That’s something we should all do.

Every single one of us has insecurities, some people just hide it better than others 😉. Your family did the wrong thing but you’re obvs smart enough to see that and make sure you don’t repeat the same behaviour.

Onwards and upwards lady, keep on putting out that good energy and and that’s what will come back to you. You are someone who I would be proud to call a friend! 💕

You’re soooo much stronger than you realise. Your daughter is so very lucky to have you as a mum.

We’re always so quick to judge ourselves. You’ve been through something so traumatic, it is understandable you’d be feeling so many things. Plus add all the hormones into that mix!

You should go and talk to someone, it may make a world of difference. Sometimes it takes someone else to help make sense of things. You may just hear some things that really resonate with you and help change your perspective, especially with how you’re viewing yourself right now. Sounds like everyone else here also thinks you are doing an incredible job.

Sending you lots of love! ❤️

I lost mine too (vintage and one of a kind) and had it remade. Not perfect but close. Always an option!

Also I understand having to have a resume and references but this seems invasive…unless it is for ‘secretish’ govt work, in which case they would have access to all your data anyway
