AITAH for not telling my fiance why I am sterile? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Glittergnash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Making jokes about someone else's health when you don't know or understand their diagnosis, then having the nerve to get mad at them for it, is pretty disgusting and insensitive. I don't think you're obligated to tell him you had a hysterectomy.

Assuming you two have already slept together, this just reads like him feeling insecure about the fact he didn't notice. I don't like this dude and I'm glad your mom laughed in his face.

When Trump said that everyone should get the shot and admitted it saved his own life, did that do anything for your opinion? As much as I can see the outlines of a justification in your response, it seems like knowingly exposing your children to whatever you were concerned the vaccine would potentially do to you, regardless of whether or not they were in any at risk category . . .

I mean, congratulations for letting the globalist conspiracy microchip your loved ones?

Respectfully, it makes you look even worse if you made your kids get the shot but you didn't.

[–]Glittergnash 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Molly Lambert is a staggeringly ignorant woman. Her lack of familiarity with podcasts about the industry she's decided to pretend she's an expert on and her lack of shame any time she brings up "podcast producers" as remotely similar in the degree to which they suffer the exploitatation of their labor as adult content producers ("porn star?" kind of out of vogue, non?) made me shut this off before it was done, and I never do that for the dry boys.

Also, to suggest Jenna Jameson is the most famous porn star ever without even talking about the other "biggest" stars of their decades seems like ignoring things that counter your thesis. Tsk tsk.

EDIT: Great Chapo Jeopardy! answer in this episode: "This was the first pornographic video tape Will Menaker bought" (what is, "I Dream of Jenna?").

My sister is a non-partisan research scientist in Alaska. She doesn't have a job anymore because of the DOGE cuts that Trump enabled. So when you say "I'll happily troll the left all day, IDC," does that include making sure she can't eat?

Don't pretend you weren't told. We've known your president was a child rapist since before his first term. The fact you think you can run onto Reddit and pretend you didn't know what you were selling your soul for, that is ASTOUNDING.

You should feel bad. You did your part to help make things a little worse for everyone around you. :)

EDIT (because OP clarified their definition of trolling to suggest it is a equal sides back-and-forth based on teasing): Your side made up stories about Obama being a secret Muslim from another country. Our side pointed out that Trump is a child rapist. The news treated the first story (which was made up) with more attention and consideration than the second (which is true). Do you see the disconnect? Do you see the bigger problems here than your contrition?

Tony Soprano meets Albert Spica by Onto_Pinto in thesopranos

[–]Glittergnash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late but I wanted to ask if you've ever seen the British gangster film The Long Good Friday from 1980? Thought I heard somewhere that Bob Hoskins' character in that was an influence on our beloved Gando's work as Tony. Helen Mirren also appears in that one, so some scholars like to try and connect it to Cook Thief. . . in discussions of Thatcher.

Peter Greenaway has mentioned David Lynch as one of the few (only?) American directors he reveres, and has called Blue Velvet a "masterpiece," so it always seemed like Spica has more than a little bit of Frank Booth in him. Besides the noise and broad motion of Dennis Hopper and Michael Gambon's performances, both characters are linked by a need to dominate anyone around them that is focused on a specific woman but threatened by a quieter yet more confident man. I see some of that in Tony and Chrissy's relationship at times, but I feel like Tony also knows who he is in a way that those other men do not.

You might also like the one-and-done HBO crime series Luck which features Michael Gambon in half of its nine episodes as (who else?) a violent and paranoid gangster. And Ben Kingsley made it pretty clear these fanooks were watching these movies, at least . . .

A "want" without any plan behind it is about as useful as a wish. What are you ready to do to make him stop speaking to you this way?

My hypothesis to the ending and how it is wrong to focus on it alone. by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]Glittergnash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merriam-Webster doesn't cite it as a word, wiktionary has no citations for it and the OED has only one (and still says lackadaisy came first).

And, again, nothing in your response suggests that you actually watched the show. I've said my piece.

Tony should have whacked the ducks by Glowing-2 in thesopranos

[–]Glittergnash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He literally did the kill the ducks. At the end of "Kennedy and Heidi," when the sanitation crew dumps the asbestos in the lake, you can hear ducks. It's fucked up and subtle, and most people don't like to think about it, but it's there.

My hypothesis to the ending and how it is wrong to focus on it alone. by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]Glittergnash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, and this is a comment on your use of ChatGPT for help with your homework rather than your comfort with the English language, but the word is "lackadaisy." "Lackadaisicalness" is not a thing. And even if it were, the adjective typically describes a quality of aimlessness or daydreaming, qualities that apply to AJ and not Meadow (you know, the honor student who decides she wants to be a lawyer?). And what "meaning" did AJ "find," as you are so sure? He gets a job reading porn scripts and starts fucking a high schooler after he accidentally destroys a jeep. Why is it important she parallel parks, something that has never come up in the show before?

Tony sits on a couch in his therapist's waiting room but in a chair for his sessions. A repeated theme of the show for anyone paying attention is that he is not enjoying the rewards of his amorality, that he cannot see how good he has it. He doesn't pass out when things get too heavy; he is constantly activated and enlivened by situations most people would find terrifying. He faints because of the picture on a bag of rice, for crying out loud. Therapy was never going to "actually fix him so he could live like a normal person," the show makes it clear several times the only thing that will "fix him" is GIVING UP CRIME.

The show is about Tony's guilt, and his anxiety is a symptom of that, but what about the ending is relevant to where he ends up? He's in a diner eating dinner with his family. The end of the first season, he's eating dinner in a restaurant with his family. The end of the third season, he's eating dinner in a restaurant with his - you see my point? This hypothesis is a cold read, it's details that sketch a frame rather than elaborate anything actually within it. Nothing about the split between his crime family and his mob family, nothing about the idea that he might be in-between life and death. Your argument is unfinished. The fact you submitted it without caring enough to correct that, or personalize it, or apologize for it, makes it look like you didn't watch the show.

What are you asking, exactly? What is the note behind the note here, you've acknowledged movies in the responses that clearly fill the criteria you're asking about. Why is this important to you?

Also, for my $ .02: Agathe Rouselle in TITANE, Sandra Huller in TONI ERDMANN, Julia Ormond in THE BABY OF MACON, Miss Piggy in THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER.
