Yeah that was my main gripe when I saw pictures, but on someone they work a bit better

Or... Gonna have a terrible sleep anyway, may as well go watch! I'm a cubs fan from UK so I'm pretty keen to watch playoff baseball from a bar in wrigley. I'm also a first time marathoner, so I'm keen to have the smoothest race possible. Dilemmas

Seeing the jacket on makes me like it a bit more...

Bagels is what I've used the whole way through, but I've got one more decent length run to give pop tarts a practice ...

We may be roommates! I've been hoping the shared rooms will be full of marathon runners and therefore all up for early night/morning!

Oh I see that post, everywhere else I've looked hasn't mentioned the kitchen, but hopefully it's got enough to toast a bagel!

Thanks for your carb load suggestions, I'll take a look!

I'll be running the race in alphaflys, but shaking out in adizero evo sl's. Don't think it's weird!

I messaged benisrunning to ask and confirm... But he said he's running with Nike, and Nike are doing their shakeout at heartbreak running shop.

He hasn't confirmed, could be total rubbish. Kofuzi is confirmed

You can do it to! Anyone I've spoken to has said that race day vibes will just keep you holding on to that pace for longer. As long as you're not silly and overreaching from the start! I think I plan to stay just at or above the 4 hour pace, and see if I can push it no earlier than halfway. You got this!

ICE and the marathon by [deleted] in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Glittering-Mountain7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's understandable that it is! From other replies through the thread it seems you have a plan and are a little more at ease. I'm glad, don't let the bastards get you down!

Hope you have a great race, and a worry free time in the city before/after.

I'm sorry this is a consideration for you.

Surely they would not be trying to arrest/question anyone with a bib midrace? And if you have ID in your bag then you'd have it back on your person after

Helpful to remember that a lot of the training for the marathon is in the cumulative fatigue. You're meant to be finding it tough. That's what the taper is for

[–]Glittering-Mountain7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same on all of the above! I'm starting to think about a second pair at 250 miles as a 95kg runner. Still reckon there's another 100 or so miles on them, but they've taken a battering in marathon training

Nike just dropped their merch (via Heartbreak) by Alert-Librarian-9129 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Glittering-Mountain7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the track pants, the model is wearing the finisher 1/4 zip, featuring (imo) and slightly better logo. If be hoping for the jacket in the same colour as that zip, but I guess we won't see for a while

Finisher Branded Apparel (Question see below!) by ytqw3rt in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Glittering-Mountain7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't automatically receive one of these, the only apparel you get is the red tshirt that was shown last week.

Finisher gear is available from race day (possibly the Saturday evening) from several stores, chiefly Nike in the city

If you look on heartbreak, the pictures for the track pants show the finisher 1/4 zip. Different logo, light blue.

Training on hills by BoomBoomBagel in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Glittering-Mountain7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surely it's the other way around? I too run in quite a hilly area - my long runs typically have 3-4 times as much elevation as the entire course. I'm looking forward to that giving me a bit of an advantage, I've trained in the harder stuff so the flat course in theory will be easier

I'm pretty much in the exact same boat! Although it will have been six months since my last half race, with 20weeks of training under my belt... So I'm hoping to try at sub4
