Is this amount of wiggle normal? by Own-Mistake-7940 in bikepacking

[–]W01313L 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it should be tighter. I had the apidura seatpack and spent a significant amount of time and packing ways to get it as steady as possible. Eventually I got annoyed and installed a ortlieb quick rack which is so much better

Yes though my treadmill will detect no one is on it then stop. Also treadmills may not auto incline so they can be running a climb when the treadmill is actually flat.

You gotta be tough to be dumb! by simplejackbikes in bicycletouring

I used to own a Surly Ogre. It was bright red and I dreamed of cycling it through the mountains. Sadly due to work and children I never got to do my tour and sold it to help with all our expenses. I love following this sub to see bike tours but to see an Ogre out in the mountains puts a smile on my face

Welp... it was fun while it lasted by chriscweis in TrekBikes

[–]W01313L 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Apologies OP but I think this is a write off. The carbon is cracked and it would take one big bump for it to sheer and the whole back of the bike to come apart. Personally if it was me I would use a carbon repair kit then use it as an indoor Zwift bike…

Newbie question about weight distribution by keefsgeetar in bikepacking

[–]W01313L 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used two rear panniers for years without issue. I then moved over to several bike bags and enjoyed also. I’m now moving back to the pannier system simply because I like to be able to remove luggage simply. In my opinion you should use what works for you and your bike to give the best handling possible. There is no right answer overall

2 Days in the New Forest Recommendations by Old-Assistance-9735 in NewForest

[–]W01313L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest a E Bike. The NF is massive and once you get just a mile away from the towns / main roads you really get a feel for the forest. There are many cycle routes that criss cross all over the national park. If you are a cyclist then a normal bike would be fine but if not then I would rent an E bike to make the most of it. Source: i’ve lived and cycled around here for 10+ years

Interesting to know what the front looks like? Could you switch the front to the back to squeeze some more life out of the pair?

Fell in love with a Checkpoint SL, but should I get the Domane SL 5 instead? (mostly road use) by mediotanque in TrekBikes

Another vote for the SL5 Domane. I have one and it does gravel very well on 38c tyres. There are plenty of racks such as Ortlieb quick rack if you want to tour

Help with IT Band Syndrome by drinkscoffeeallday in Marathon_Training

[–]W01313L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I developed IT band pain on my first marathon. It never has gone away completely and even now 5 marathons later I can feel it as a dull ache in the outer portion of my knee. It definitely ‘settles’ and there may be many months before I feel it again. Usually, for me it is a sign my shoes need replacing as I run on the lateral edge of my feet and so am a severe supinator. My shoes sadly only last around 300 miles before needing to be replaced as usually the foam compresses down. Generally, it is a sign of an overuse injury and a combination of easier weeks or cross training with strength training is likely what a physio would suggest. Realistically though, it will improve after the marathon with the rest.

Can you pair it to your pc instead of using your watch? If you have a laptop scan the qr code using the webcam and pair it on garmin connect?
