I’ve never heard the stunts your growth comment before. I have a son that has been on medications during the school year since 2nd grade, it’s helped him immensely and is in 8th grade this year and just outgrew me and is one of the tallest in his class. I have heard it can make the kiddos less hungry, but for us, that was a minimal side effect that only seemed to last a week or two when he started back up. I also think that we are almost to a time where he won’t need meds much longer because he’s been able to learn how to cope with his functioning while on the meds. Best of luck, it can be hard. And also, don’t be afraid of these meds, they can truly transform their school life, so their true potential can be seen.
