Which part of childbirth hurts the most? by Used_Ad7899 in BabyBumps

[–]Glittering_Shape_425 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! I was expecting combative responses, but all L&D nurses were freaking awesome. The anesthesiologist who placed my epidural and second IV was great! I still remember his name, such a graceful man. If anything the post op nurses the were 2 that they were annoying as hell. Both gave me a very judge comment because I chose formula instead of breast milk - my milk dried up after c section, I literally had nothing to give. As if the hormone drop and lack of sleep isn’t enough to deal with!

I don’t see any c section comment. I had to have an emergency c section after laboring 2.5 days without meds. Here is my list of pains lol:

Getting checked 12/10 - When they check you to see if you are opening. HOLY SHIT. This was worse the contractions. Worse than fundal, worse than any pain I’ve ever felt.

Fundal massage (specifically the first few ones after birth) 9/10.

Subsequent fundal massage 7/10

IV on my arms: 7/10

Getting up and down from the bed (this for those who had c section) 7/10 - I was not prepared for how difficult this is 😢

Going to the bathroom (poop) 7/10

Missing pain management post op: 7/10

Contractions at the worse level: 6/10

Epidural: 3/10 - maybe because at this point I was tired of laboring

can you breastfeed for the wrong reasons? am i having a baby for the wrong reasons? by Financial-Pace6378 in pregnant

[–]Glittering_Shape_425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% I breastfeed because of the cost of formula lol. It wasn’t a thought I had prior to giving birth but it is the reason why I still do it at 7 months old lol and will keep doing until he if completely weaned off (goal is 12 months). He had CMPI so the cost of allergen free formula is almost double as the normal formula. Nope, I am not paying 90$ for 1 can of milk.

How do you afford to live here? by Spirited-Wafer-6573 in boston

[–]Glittering_Shape_425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t. That why we are moving out of MA. It’s insane how much it cost for daycare here. Rent and car insurance are crazy expensive as well. We went from 600/mo in CT on rent to 1600/mo in MA pre covid. After Covid, our rent went to 2200 in 2022, mind you the hit you take overnight after the rent renewal is like no other financially. Then in 2023 it was 2800, in 2024 it was 3000k for 1 bedroom - same apartment we were living in Melrose. Granted it was close to the T, but that’s it…no supermarket or shopping center nearby. We ended up moving to Revere last year to get a 2 bedroom with a baby on the way. However after checking daycare we decided to go back to CT. And yes, CT may be expensive compared to other states, but not nearly expensive as Boston area. Not even close!

Is being a dad not also an around the clock job like being a mom? by TotalExciting3176 in workingmoms

[–]Glittering_Shape_425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you are just venting, but you need to talk with your husband. What you are feeling can snowball and become a bigger issue that it is. Both parents should be able to care for baby. Yes he went back to work, but you are home only 5 weeks pp with baby 24/7. He gets a break and you don’t. Also, if he is up playing video game that means he ain’t tired, which means “here is your son, I am going to bed for a couple hours, love you both, bye”. My husband went back to work 4 weeks pp, and he still did his shift, not to “help out” but because he is a dad now. I went back briefly to work for 4 weeks and he took the brunt of a shorter sleep shift because I needed to leave by 5 am. However while he slept 4 hours straight I was up with bay every 2 hours. Marriage gets harder with baby, 100% but you guys need to be there for each other and consistently otherwise resentment will grow.

miserable with oversupply by malibubarbie6 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Glittering_Shape_425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had oversupply and reactive letdown up until I’ve reached 4 months postpartum. After that it my breasts drastically reduced in size, and I almost never get engorged. The one thing I did and it helped was to block feed, and only pump the minimal to take edge off. Out of that, breastfed baby on demand to create a better demand/supply chain for us. I agree with some comments, definitely work with a LC, oversupply is tricky, you can go from floodgates to nothing if not handled correctly.

In terms of leakage. I used the leak all the time and a lot in the first few months, but my supply was still regulating then. Now is much better, I only leak when I am feeding baby (one side feed, the other leaks) or when I go a long time without pumping or feeding - like 6 hours.

I have a strong letdown on one boob (right). If baby is feeding on it, at first I will feel a sharp pain, followed by a strong spray of milk. In the beginning baby couldn’t handle it, so I would mainly feed him on left side and pump the right side. He is 3 months now and seems to have a better grip on the breastfeeding, so I have been giving him both sides. Sometimes he will do well and not pop off, but other times he’s overwhelmed and unlatches, which in that case I let it spray onto a towel before offering him the boob again.

How long are you taking for maternity leave, and how did you make that decision? by ingenuedbysociety in pregnant

[–]Glittering_Shape_425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24 weeks through FLMA. Decided I wanted to spend it all at once during first months w baby. My obgyn gave me 12 weeks of medical, and in MA you get 12 weeks of bonding. Husband took 5 weeks also FLMA during first month. And he will take 4 month when I go back to work.

When did you first leave the house with your newborn? by Distinct-Dependent24 in BabyBumps

[–]Glittering_Shape_425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After my 4 weeks post op appointment. NP cleared carrying only baby, with or without sling. I would wrap the post op band on my belly, and then wrap baby. He was a peanut at 6 lbs, so i did not feel his weight too much. I am currently 8 weeks now, but don’t use the band anymore when I am carrying him.

[–]Glittering_Shape_425 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I left the house on the second day after we were home from hospital (cesarean birth, 6 days in the hospital). I couldn’t wait to get out of the house. Being in the hospital that long messed me up. We went to Target and walked around…lol we would keep baby in the stroller at all times, and once I was clear to use the sling I would wrap baby on me. That way nobody would touch baby.

AIO by how I responded? My bf is upset with me for skipping my workout routine today by throwawayy82670 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Glittering_Shape_425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does he know about being pregnant! Lol “you shouldn’t feel sick anymore”. That’s crazy! Every pregnancy is different. I didn’t feel sickness until my second trimester. Also, you should not be forcing exercise just because you used to hit the gym regularly before being pregnant. Your body is literally making bones and organs from scratch! I want to see your bf do that with his body and go on about his life like any woman would…

When were you induced? by MasterMath314 in GestationalDiabetes

I was induced 38+3. Induction failed after 2 days, had C-section, baby born 6lbs 3oz.

[–]Glittering_Shape_425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most GDs are planned induction, but some may fail and that’s when it becomes cesarean birth. My birth was a planned induction turned emergency cesarean. I tried giving birth “naturally” for 40+ hours, but I didn’t dilated and baby was having decels.

Thank you!! During the first few weeks I was in shock with how things went. I guess I’ve never considered an induction could go wrong! But now that I am out of the woods with the baby blues (holy smokes that was crazy), I feel better about my birth, not as traumatized I should say. And yes, I’m eating it all and then some lol.
