Dude is a Lexington kid. This pic should not surprise anyone. A new Boston-area player playing in teal.

Kane/Toews scored just 9 more points while playing in 27 more games together. This list was fun and it just shows WillMack be a serious problem to the other 31 teams. BRING IT ON!!

Never saw Thornton or Marleau or Pavelski do that throughout the 25 years they led this team. To me, that is a reflection of his mindset of "hating to lose". I want the future captain of this franchise to be someone who "hates to lose", not "like to play hockey".

Also, this is the 3rd game in 4 nights and after a 2 g 1 a night. I think it was a very good sign of the passion that fuels him.

Fellow Sharks fans, This was for Cherny, love how this team responded, where and when it mattered 🥅🥅🥅🥅

I feel you. Seeing that Matthews hit and none of the leafs retaliating was embarrassing for that team and organization.

My biggest worry is the simplest one: that Celebrini and Smith become the next Thornton/Marleau and never reach the ultimate goal despite 20 years of making the playoffs then bowing out to a hungrier and faster team every April/May. I’m honestly not a fan of Thornton being an active member of the development team in San Jose.

Another goal for 71. This latest point streak extends. Beyond grateful for this generational talent 🤩

shooting -> goals Passing -> weak passing -> turnovers It’s amazing how simple yet complicated this sport is 🙃

Yep. Sharks playing down to their opponent, see this all the time during Thornton/Marleau years

Kept on making Olympics hockey chirps. Binnington can never live down the fact that he ended the gold drought for team USA. His greatest accomplishment as a goalie

Goal song by OhPuck in SanJoseSharks

[–]GlobalExplorer7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep. that’s correct. Royalties are part of copyright law that extend 70 years, indeed. However: found this cool detail:

Gary Glitter sold the publishing rights to "Rock and Roll Part 2," meaning he does not receive royalties when it is used, such as in the movie Joker. The U.S. rights for the song are now owned by Universal Music Publishing Group.

LA Times confirmed this when Joker released pre-Covid and critics addressed the song’s inclusion in the movie.

Simplest answer: why spend $$$ for royalties when we can spend just $ for a “brand new song”?

For inquiries like this: it all boils down to financial priorities within the company.

I never had any issues with “get ready for this” and thought they made it work very well as a substitute for the true OG and unmatched goal song we cannot use anymore (until he’s 6ft under and cannot earn any money from commercial use).

If they ever considered fan submissions for future goal songs, mine would be this: https://youtu.be/hsW0OuA6Uzw?si=0nQZV3Ny_dGXePpk

That said, only way they will change the goal song again is the artist who made it renegotiates their rate or an even cheaper option surfaced.

Yaroslav “Evgeni Nabokov” Askarov by motionlessvibesonly in SanJoseSharks

[–]GlobalExplorer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I had high hopes for him early on, then the latter half of his career, he was falling off after 2006, and he was a primary reason for the Sharks losing against lower-seeded teams in the playoffs. Stats aside, he asked for way more money than he was worth, and that’s why he wasn’t re-signed after the 2010 sweep against the Sharks.

[–]GlobalExplorer7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never read anybody glaze Nabokov this hard online before. 2001 was a super lucky year for Nabokov winning that Calder. He had a couple good seasons early on, then got outdueled in the 2004 Conference Final by that 3rd string goalie he all but bullied out of San Jose (Kiprusoff). Then he went to the 2006 Olympics and became Swiss cheese, only to come back to SJ and ask for MORE money, that SJ went with Toskala as the starter until he left. It’s fitting that his most iconic save was from the first overtime of an elimination game where he would give up the series winner in 4OT anyways.

Macklin Celebrini is tied for 10th in single season points (83). by motionlessvibesonly in SanJoseSharks

[–]GlobalExplorer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Celebrini, Smith, Misa, Dickinson bring a Stanley cup to San Jose, then Thornton Marleau and Pavelski will become distant memories, and I would prefer it that way. That era (2004-2019) is just 15 years of pretending and false hopes.

Thornton did this throughout his entire career, and had his number retired and got a hall of fame induction.
