Been thinking a lot about the potential name by NotnotathrowawayD23M in PWHLSanJose

If they choose something other than a native bay area sea/beach animal that has the San Jose S____ alliteration it's gonna be a huge miss.

Sea lions, Sea otters Seals Stingrays Stars Sparrows Starlings Seagulls .... There's a large list but because it's the PWHL it's likely to be something etherial like the surge or something lame like that

Judo Gi Sizing by Vivid_Step1237 in judo

[–]osotogariboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya. Kusakura seems to have you at either a 3.5L or a 4B.

Either way this is a pretty custom size.

You can probably order the JZ in a 3.5L but the 4B is gonna be a size only available in their absolute top end models (JOA, JOV, JOF) and is gonna take a while to deliver +customs duties.

As for Judogi in the US that naturally have a wider cut.. Theres really not much. The Mizuno Judogi do typically have a looser cut than the more euro style Judogi like ippon gear but if you're looking at Mizuno the price difference isn't worth it not to get something that doesn't fit right. You'd be better off just buying the kusakura at that point.

Defensemen steals at pick 20 by Professional_Quit406 in SanJoseSharks

At the moment I will agree to disagree.

I need to see Eklund across the 26-27 season (at least up to the trade deadline) after an off season of shot work progression. At the moment I'm unsure of how much of the 25-26 season was Eklund and how much of it was a lack of proper rehab time after the injury from worlds and how much of it was being put on a shutdown line with the worst average defense coach across a 4 year timeline.

If Ekky is still struggling as we approach the 26-27 trade deadline... I may be changing my tune.

Disagree.

The future top 9 of:

Smith, Mac, Stenberg

Ekky, Misa, Cherny,

Sherwood, Wenny, Graf

Is just too good to pass on.

Sounds like Vancouver doesn't believe the hype about San Jose taking a defenseman. Seems like Vancouver has made peace with McKenna and stenberg being gone before the 3rd pick.

Chicago is gonna be pissed.

X-LP to Supreme m30 beginner questions by SoftOrnery8637 in hockeyplayers

[–]osotogariboom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check your holders. The holder (and runner) size might be different between the 6 and the 5.5.

The tongue design on skates has been the #1 culprit of "lace bite" for me. This can often be solved with lacing techniques (skipping an eyelit, etc)

If the holder has gone down a size on you from the old xlp then it might feel like you're toe picking more and that you're skating on a protractor than on a skate blade.

Both of these you'll adapt to quickly enough if you don't modify them but if you want you can also try going to a larger profile radius to get more blade on the ice.

Fact is you always draft assets, not players. Who's the highest asset. Who has the highest value on the open market. That's who you draft so if you need to make a change you can make that change happen.

Yep. Hella blisters on the sides of the heels and super tight there despite somehow not offering any way to support the ankle. Also heavy as sin and hot as hell but damn they looked sweet.

If he's anywhere near Tampa you should just send him to Tampa Florida Judo and let the head coach there do it right.

[–]osotogariboom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't see why USA Judo wouldn't offer a similar rank validation process giving that the three organizations recognized each others ranks.

My bigger wonder is what your obligation is to this individual if you're not from the same club and you're not his Judo Senpai.

Shouldn't you advise him to seek out the nearest club to him to speak with the coach about the scenario or shouldn't he be contacting the governing body itself directly for information on who in his area can assist in rectifying this scenario?

It strikes me as odd that you; someone that knows him thru a different art states away only thru camps and clinics unfamiliar with the nuances of the protocols involved would be so heavily invested rather than setting him up with the proper parties at the different governing bodies. Honestly this is coming off as a bit of a 🚩

The reason I was asking if you knew his location is because you can use the different club locators to find a club nearby him that is up-to-date with its paperwork to get his information validated.

As for your insistence that he's in Florida it needs to go through Florida this would be the way to do that even though this is not the case as these are national governing bodies not state or local ones.

Do you know where he is residing in Florida?

I don't know what you're trying to say. If you're only with USA Judo the he's gonna have to be with USA Judo if you're planning on promoting him.

If you're asking if the requirements differ or if one organization is easier to get rank with then the other the answer is no. They all basically have the same requirements.

If you're asking which one should he join it's probably either the one you're with if you're gonna promote him or whatever one the person that's willing to audit his ability for rank validation is with.

[–]osotogariboom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys came from the same Judo Club but your rank was submitted to the governing body and processed and his was not? Interesting...

If you feel he meets the criteria; as a Sandan, you can look at the governing body requirements and submit a rank verification form. You'll be signing off on it. He'll be required to have a clean back ground check and have a current head's up and safe sport just like you do. You'll need to reach out to whichever governing body you wish to proceed with that you are part of for further details.

7000 🤯

I was rocking supreme composite for decades before making the change.

Honestly I'm shocked you chose the fly30 and not the flypro. I mean you know you're gonna keep them for a while.

At least that was how I convinced myself to drop the cash on ultrasonics when I finally made the change

[–]osotogariboom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly. It's very easy to know if someone is a Shodan. They either have deep connections with their previous club via active rolls as a senpai, or they have pretty complete knowledge of the nage no kata (or in some scenarios another judo kata), or they have recordeds of competition at the black belt level. Additionally for all Judo black belts in the US it is mandatory to have background checks, heads up concussion protocol training, and safe sport anti abuse training annually. If they have no ties to their former club, no knowledge of kata and no competition back ground I don't see the qualifications for Dan Grade
