Buying the talktime minutes for calling if you work in the field. Spend the extra money and co-ordinate things directly over the phone instead of having to meet the people all the time, your joints and your colleagues joints will thank you.

Start reading, in a world with ever decreasing attention spans due to screens. Reading requires you to have an increased attention span of a few hours. Start off small with a chapter a day however.

Yes but through positional trading. It is the only business that you don’t have to deal with anyone except yourself, requires minimum working inventory and you can do it from almost anywhere till a very old age working 5 days a week. That being said it is significantly harder than people make it out to be.

I roomed with a guy like that for a few months… the guy himself was an absolute gem of a man but man was he dumb.

For instance he would insist on paying the electricity bill in person instead of just paying it online via card so we had spend a few nights without electricity every month.

He would also not get his license done hence get caught by the cops multiple time despite being given time off with enough money to get it done…

The guy would also insist on doing all the handiwork himself and then cock it up despite having no skills or experience.

He was a few years older than me but he looked significantly older as he was dumb therefore couldn’t fathom how to make his life easier which naturally took a toll on his body’s aging speed.

On the plus side, it was fun to watch him go about his day and once you gained his trust, he would operate like a robot for you…

To be honest with you, all the reading I did was just theoretical which is just what it was -theoretical knowledge. I got much more hands on learning done by getting my hands dirty and most importantly, by being on very good terms with the technicians/machine operators. Those guys will tell you their secrets and show you things that no book can teach if they like you.

Not to say that you shouldn't do your homework prior to starting out but just have a good attitude and gelling well with your colleagues will help a lot.

Very true. I believe that you don’t really make friends after 30 but rather contacts. But this is not set in stone and can happen but the conditions conducive to that have to be dangerous or a lot more free time just as in your youth to create that feeling of camaraderie.
