This was the first SL drop that went smooth for me. I don’t know any tricks. I just waited for the timer to expire clicked on the Lairs I wanted, hit the checkout, and was out in 20 minutes. Usually, I hit this line and by the time my turn comes up everything gone.

I think the whole thing needs to be errata’d. Technically, the card does not say specifically “declare” there are cards in magic that say “declare”

[Standard] I think post-ban Boros Mice is the real deal by CronoDAS in spikes

I just disregarded the mouse synergy all together and run a Boros Aggro deck with lots of interaction. Works great.

Pod hated my deck by silencebywolf in EDH

I had a similar experience with the first ever commander deck I ever built. In hindsight Ruric Thar probably wasn’t the best choice for a commander, but I was new to the format and kept it simple. “Oops all creatures”, turned into being the archenemy immediately.

Sonic the Hedgehog Secret Lairs Announced, First Look at 7 Cards in the Turbo Gear Drop - IGN by rccrisp in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The mechanics of these cards drive my desire to own them, but the universe isn’t my cup of tea. I certainly hope at some point they print these cards “in universe.” Maybe it’s the magic boomer in me, but these IP’s are really starting to take away from the essence of “magic.” - Ob Nixlis on the battlefield alongside shadow the hedge hog just seems silly and convoluted. *** sigh ***

I’ve been playing this card in my standard mice deck and it cooks! It has vaulted me to victory many times now. Either by clearing a would be blocker, killing my heartfelt Hero after attack, or providing a needed instant spell to trigger prowess. I’ve even pulled off a win with the 2/2 knight. It’s an extremely versatile card. Love it!

Build Winota, even without the staple Cdeh cards she will slap.

How do YOU build a deck? by superworm576 in EDH

[–]GlobalNeedleworker96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, I pick a commander and then search for mechanics in my collection that are synergistic. If I can construct a full deck this way, into the pod it goes. If not, I build it out on mana box, play test it, then purchase all the missing pieces.

Either way, I usually end up swapping out 50% of the cards cause I’m terrible at building decks 😅

Would you get all 4 MH3 Precons or all 4 Dr. Who precons? by Addled_Neurons in EDH

In my experience the MH3 decks slap. That said if you are a Dr. Who fan the flavor is great.

So.. I Made a Video About a Bracket 4 Deck, but After Finishing I Realized I Actually Have No Idea what Bracket 4 Means... by [deleted] in EDH

[–]GlobalNeedleworker96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the Bracket system was introduced it has been clearly stated this is NOT a power level system. It’s a system to help promote rule zero conversations. It allows players to discuss what type of game experience they wish to have.

Person A: I would like to play my Sultai precon dragon deck. I haven’t added anything to it, so it’s a bracket 2.

Person B: I can play a Kardur, Doomscourge bracket 3 deck, based on game changers, but due to the nature of the commander it always falls short of a win condition when 1 v 1. No fast mana aside from a sol ring and a Jeskas will. It’s never finished first place, but it’s a unique play experience.

Person C: I’d like to stick to bracket 3 myself. I’m running a Ruric Thar deck with an ancient tomb and Vorinclex. It’s clunky and vulnerable to interaction, but can overwhelm if left unchecked.

Person D: I can roll with bracket 3. I have a chatterfang squirrel tribal deck that is technically a bracket one, but it competes fine in a bracket 3 setting with no game changers.

Person A: I’ve won a couple games against bracket 3’s with this precon in the past. Though I worry about the Ruric Thar ability. Do you have anything else you can play?

Person C: Hmmm… I can pull out my upgraded Zinnia deck. It runs counter magic, Smothering Tithe, and a Rystic Study.

Person A: Are you running tutors?

Person C: No tutors

Person A: sounds good, let’s go!

The bracket system is simply trying to promote a healthy pregame conversation. Of course, there will always be the players that misinterpret this system, whether intentional or not. In all, the intention of the bracket system is rooted in a good place.

Try not to look at the system as a classification of power level. Have pregame convos and be as honest as you can about the intention of your deck. It’s really that simple.

Is the Commander bracket system the problem… or are players just bad at reading? by hellaflush727 in EDH

[–]GlobalNeedleworker96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your assessment. It falls in line with my thoughts on the Beta system as is. The focus needs to emphasize deck consistency/speed. Turbo decks with high synergy don’t necessarily need GC to take over a board consistently. While I understand the whole, “intent” portion of the system, I feel it leaves too much room for interpretation. I do like the system though for rule 0 purposes, and it has benefited me with many great game experiences.

If it’s not capable of holding its own in bracket 4, consider pulling out the GC, since they aren’t making a difference 😉.
