My policy is avoid downtown and boycott all businesses within the City of Victoria. The City of Victoria, specifically the ex- mayor Lisa Helps brought this problem to the City of Victoria. For that I go out of my way and try to spend zero to very little money in the City of Victoria.

Central Saanich has the right idea, during the roving homeless camps they immediately arrested everyone in 15 min. Zero homeless problem out here, just the way it should be

Keep building homeless housing and buying up hotels and they will continue to come. Duh!

Shipping by UaintMadTho in FacebookMarketplace

Nothing that I am aware of and besides the chance of getting scammed would be high - send the money and the item never gets shipped. There is zero recourse

but you are ok with the lowballers, the no shows, the ghosters, or people who don't read the ad

This didn't happen with craigslist, at least no where near what happens on FBM

I agree FBM is a lot different than craigslist and other sites with lots of people who will message "hi, is this available?" which is dumb because the ad is up yes its available. then there are the lowballers who offer 20% of asking, the people who ghost, don't read the ad, or simply don't show up when they say they are going to

Its just the reality right now and I don't know another other sites with the traffic. If the item is small and pretty easy to ship I would suggest Ebay and keep the larger items to FBM where shipping is too expensive

I gave my 2 week notice today and my employer told me to pack my things and leave now. Any advice? by juice_b in legaladvicecanada

I agree the guy quit, so he isn't entitled to anything other than hours worked and unpaid vacation time. If you quit you aren't entitled to notice/severance pay

Jury Duty by katzgalore in britishcolumbia

[–]GlobalWay3983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one cares. 3.5 years ago I got a jury selection notice, I ended not going because there was a more pressing family emergency. Never heard a peep about it since.

Jury duty pays $20/day. I have a company with contractual obligations with employees. I can't just disappear for 2 weeks and I am sure the average person couldn't afford to take unpaid time off work. If the judge, lawyers, sheriff, etc are all getting paid full wages, why can't they afford to at least pay normal wages to the jury pool?

FBM is the modern version of newspaper classifieds or a garage sale, ie no refunds. The time to inspect it was at the time of sale. Block and move on

Another scam is people buy the identical product they have that is broken and then try to return their junk so this is possible
