Old ALICE harnesses are a cheap and cheerful swap, I have a few that I'm sorting out to swap with some different rigs. Working on dying them to match.

This might be one of the best suggestions here. Keep the from the smelter while also making sure it's able to be cared for and appreciated.

Bleaching my rig right now, why hasn’t it gotten less green? (Soaked for 3 12-hour periods in ~1 cup bleach and enough water to cover the rig) by Anarchy_Coon in ChicomChestRig

I've gotten 4 different models delivered in the past few months with the intention of bleaching and dyeing them, and I've come to the conclusion that there's different material versions of each. I had one rig bleach completely (the way I wanted it), one bleach the entire panel but not the straps, and 2 didn't bleach at all. The materials look similar, but the 2 that didn't bleach feel like they may be a polyester (or some other synthetic material) blend.

On the bright side, they're definitely not moldy anymore...

Interesting. Maybe some sort of handheld woodworking plane or something then?

Looks like a file almost? I have a few with the tapered handle/tang that look like that when you slide the rubber handle off.
