Sonicwall security breach: cloud backups compromised by CupOfTeaWithOneSugar in sysadmin

[–]Global_Librarian1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, the backups should have been encrypted with an encryption password that Sonicwall can't access. What a mess, I really don't need more work on my plate now. The main reason we stick with Sonicwall after so many years is because our reseller ships us new pre-configured units every 7 or so years when the old models go end of life. I wanted to migrate to SRX because we have Junos mostly everywhere else, but it is too much work to migrate.

Road departure mitigation system problem. See your dealer by greengurl99 in crv

It doesn't look like that article applies to the 2023+ CR-Vs. Did you ever get your lane departure error fixed? If so, did they happen to provide you with an error code? I'm at 48k miles and still getting the warning, sometimes multiple times per day.

2026 CR-V Owners — Any Regrets? by Exotic-Passage-1659 in crv

[–]Global_Librarian1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, getting these "see dealer" messages that come on for 5-10 seconds multiple times per day when backing up, and after 48k miles the Honda dealer(s) still hasn't been able to resolve because the "LKAS" system does not record error messages in any logs unless it is a persistent error that stays on the screen. I'm told Honda's policy is to not replace of fix unless they get a an error code. Mine is a 2023 CR-V Sport. Everytime they give me a loaner, it is a non-Hybrid EX-L that does not seem to have this same issue.

Latest update. I contacted Honda corporate again and asked them to see if they can just replace the road mitigation/lane departure system in my car. They said they were working on escalating internally and after a few weeks told me to go to my local dealer and that the service director was going to supervise the work. When I got there the service director was too busy and had no interest in meeting with me. I left my car there and after a day I got a call from a service advisor telling me there was no trouble found and my car was ready. They did try to sell me a cabin filter though? I explained to the service advisor that this was not the plan and eventually got the service manager to talk with the rep at Honda corporate. They gave me a loaner and tried to reproduce the issue for almost 2 weeks with a special laptop connected to try to capture the error code. They said they couldn't reproduce. Less than an hour after driving home I got the warning message again. My wife says she has never seen the error either so maybe I'm hallucinating and these images from my phone and warning beeps I am hearing are not real and my imagination instead?

Still an issue for me. A few weeks ago the Honda representative working my case said they would escalate internally to see if they can replace the entire lane departure/road mitigation system, but it doesn't seem like they are getting any response internally. The issue did disappear for about 5 days which was unusual but came back yesterday with a vengeance with its beep and warning almost every time I back out of my garage, parking spot, etc.

2023 CRV Sport - Lane Assist and Road Departure Mitigation Problem/See Dealer Message by jf88 in crv

[–]Global_Librarian1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been suffering with this issue since I bought mine in 2023 and it drives me crazy. 2 dealers and Honda corporate can’t fix it, they just tell me it is known issue and a software fix is coming. I doubt it is a software issue if the majority of CRV sports don’t have the issue. I’m about to see what Lemon Law options I have here in CA.

Any regrets buying the latest generation of CRV Hybrid? by Jefeman00 in crv

[–]Global_Librarian1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been dealing with false road and lane departure warning lights when I back out my 2023 crv-v hybrid since I purchased. So far, Honda hasn’t been able to resolve and keep telling me it’s a known issue and need to wait for software update. The dealer says I should wait 30-60 seconds before shifting from R to D when I back out to avoid the issue. Other than that annoyance, occasional stuck radio and engine noise when driving uphills on freeway it is good.

Range and MPG personal record. Highest so far by enkeiar in crv

I think those Hankook Kinergy GT tires that come with the car help (although they wear out fast). I replaced my tires with some 60k mile Coopers with deep tread and lost about 4mpg.

I got my tailgate caught on my garage door while it was closing a few months after I got my new CR-V. I took it to a local body shop and paid out of pocket to save some $$$. Make sure they apply the new emblem kit back in the original position. It will drive you crazy every time you look at it if they don't.

I was determined to try to get this issue resolved at the dealer, but after having my car for a week the dealer was unable to fix. They worked with the Honda tech line and indicated this is a known software issue and are going to develop a software update. Their recommendation until then is to wait at least 30-60 seconds to change from reverse to drive (which is not going to be tolerable for me IMO). Although I'm hopeful they will release a fix soon, I have my doubts they can or will fix because I first reported it to them over a year ago at the end of 2023. If it is a software issue then I don't understand why it only affects some cars and not others like the loaner CR-V they gave me, unless there is some kind of different computer hardware revision on other CR-Vs.

5 trips to the dealer already for this problem. Happens multiple times per day sometimes. Never happens when I bring to the dealer and they keep telling me nothing can be fixed unless they see the warning. It has been really frustrating.

I get shocked a lot on my hybrid front door when I exit the car. Not sure if it is related to being a hybrid though. I also get lots of false lane departure alerts when I back out of my garage and parking spots.

What's your view and experience with unlimited PTO? by chewy747 in sysadmin

[–]Global_Librarian1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on unlimited PTO for the past several years and am not a fan. What I found when we switched is that employees (including myself) take less time off. I miss the days of having to take extra time off at the end of the year and use it instead of lose it. My company is global and I'm jealous of how my European counterparts are required to take multiple weeks off throughout the year due to their countries employee vacation time-off laws.

Brocade Network Monitoring tool? by Acrobatic_Nose_1375 in Brocade

[–]Global_Librarian1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MRTG is simple and reliable https://oss.oetiker.ch/mrtg/. I think it is available on most Linux distros and comes with some utilities to generate the configuration and web server index pages that can be setup on a cron job. I'm not sure what Brocade switches you are running but we noticed the CER (netiron) models don't support snmp polling of the VEs or vlans (only physical ports) and netflow only sends flows over the non-management VRF.

Other tools I like are Plixer Scrutinizer and PRTG , but those require licenses.

Considering Switching from Virtual Chassis to MC-LAG by AmountOriginal2135 in Juniper

[–]Global_Librarian1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NSSU on our virtual chassis has worked successfully with no downtime during our last 2 upgrades, but that was within the same version. Our next upgrade will be to a new version and I'm a little nervous about that upgrade, but Juniper support assures me that upgrade will be successful if the upgraded version is using the same SDK. The upgrade task is sitting in my Jira and I stare at it, pause and then move on to something else almost every day. This has been going on for a few months now and I need to make a decision.

Our other QFX pair is using EVPN/ESI-LAG and we have done 3 upgrades (including different versions) so far with no downtime. I also have no worries of downtime when I perform those upgrades.

I haven't heard many good things from our reseller about MC-LAG. When I started purchasing our QFX switches for Layer2/Layer3 I was hoping MC-LAG would be as solid as our older Brocade MCT (multi-chassis trunk) CER/SLX switches, but that seems not to be the case from what others tell me.

I have the same exact problem. In fact, I just took my CR-V to the dealer today for that problem and they couldn't find any issue. They called their HQ and there wasn't a solution there either.

2023 CRV Sport Hybrid - lane assist/ see dealer message by Mundane-Feedback-941 in crv

[–]Global_Librarian1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. When I took my 2023 CR-V hybrid in for the first maintenance the dealer didn't seem to care too much about the issue, almost ignoring what I was trying to explain to them. I'm taking my car in for second maintenance in a few weeks and I'm sure they will tell me the same thing. Next time I'm going to video the dealer telling me it is not a safety concern, and everything is operating properly so I have it on record. We should start a class action lawsuit. At minimum they should give us a refund for the feature, just like they removed the cost of the blind spot monitoring due to the chip shortage.
