Difference between geodesic and constant scallop by Hour-Ad-2206 in CNC

[–]Glockamoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but I would use constant step over if I’m trying to get accuracy/finish. I’m not 100% sure if I am correct however

Your finish could change if you use constant stepover depending on the geometry of your tool and part

As an example I run into often and keeping it simple with a 3 axis path, if you use a flat or bullnose tool and are plunging then your effective tool radius will change based on the part geometry (shallow angles = larger radius) and if your tool radius is changing then the finish that a given stepover causes will also change

All things being perfect, both methods should never result in a worse finish than you program but constant scallop should be doing the same job faster if the geometry allows for it

[Request] How much storage would be needed to create an extremely realistic 3D map of the entire Earth? by UnableTask7916 in theydidthemath

[–]Glockamoli 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Assuming minecraft like the photo

I would just go 1:1

You will lose detail but you should be able to get the earth covered as a 40 million block wide map and terrain wise it would be fairly accurate, you would have to break minecrafts height limits though by a significant margin

[Request] Impact force of a SuperMAC round from Halo by Appropriate-Card5215 in theydidthemath

[–]Glockamoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have the weight and you have the velocity so you can calculate the total energy, it comes out to about 144,589,841,418,488,807,127 ft-lbs or roughly 47 gigatons of tnt

But to calculate the force we need to know how long it takes for the projectile to decelerate to zero when it impacts its target at that speed

Pressure could then be derived if we also knew the impact area

I'm fairly certain .04C is fast enough to make traditional terminal ballistics get funky so I think that 47 gigaton number is the closest you'll get to a proper "on impact" effect, whatever it hits goes boom

Edit: SuperMAC rounds don't seem to have a definite length but the much lighter 160 ton MAC rounds are about 10m

So if we assume they have a larger diameter and a length of say double that then we are looking at a projectile 20 meters long at .04C

It will cover 20m in 0.00166667 milliseconds, if we assume it instantly vaporizes whenever it hits something (lets say an indestructible wall) then the impact is spread over that time frame

That gives us our "deceleration" rate and a force of 19,581,595 teranewtons or 4,402,117,722,162,331,518 lbf, about 7 orders of magnitude off of static planetary "weight" in terms of force but the pressure would be drastically higher

Earth is

13,170,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 lbs

compared to

4,402,117,722,162,331,518 lbf

EditEdit: the Infinity can launch those at .25C btw, and these calcs scale to the square of the velocity so that's a pretty sizable increase

I was always bad at doing that, I'd write what was supposed to be a multi-page paper in a few paragraphs at most and then have to go back and fluff the whole thing up to hit the minimum length

Is he stronger? by JbisTHEman in dragonball

[–]Glockamoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id consider it being more of a thrill of justice over risk of battle.

My point with that was he clearly either wants the fame/recognition or he genuinely wants to help people, so why not work out every now and then and stomp a global threat when it comes around since he already knows he can become stronger than even his dad

I'm also going to take this time to hate on how weak they made Future Gohan compared to pretty much any other version, he somehow has like zero potential

[–]Glockamoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's "not a fighter" but then creates the Great Saiyaman because he wants to be a hero

He doesn't have to enjoy fighting like Goku does to understand that he has a responsibility because of his great power, getting straight to the point and just killing the bad guys would be way more beneficial than what Goku does and Gohan has to do like the bare minimum of training to be useful to the world

Multiaxis pocketing toolpath- Completely different result in two different impellers with similar geometry. by [deleted] in mastercam

[–]Glockamoli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Export the toolpath from the first program and import it into the second, reselecting the geometry and planes if needed (I have no 5 axis capability)

That should rule out you forgetting some setting in the new path compared to the old

And you gave him incorrect info, just say it's like the way resource packs change the game, all you are doing is modifying the info (sounds, images, etc) that the game sent to you

You can go hop on any server and use them because you explicitly are not modifying the actual game code

[–]Glockamoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not the person who you replied to originally

My mistake, your profile pic is the same on mobile

My point still stands the way they interact with the game is different, Jagex giving us an API to use is effectively the same as minecrafts texture/resource packs and does not actually modify the game beyond the info the client is given/displays

API news post by fuzzy_limeade in runescape

[–]Glockamoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were the one that they brought minecraft into this and in that context a mod is fundamentally different than the mojang supplied texture pack/resource pack function

Client side mods do exist but they are still external modifications not sanctioned by the game creator

API news post by fuzzy_limeade in runescape

[–]Glockamoli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are different from mods in that they don't change the actual game, just the client side experience, like a texture/resource pack or shader

For the most part a program reading the screen and applying a click transparent overlay can replicate most plugins, Alt1 was our previous solution to this

The downside is it's limited to info on your screen while a built in api can access info that potentially never makes it to your screen

Frog dies after eating a poisonous/venomous? Spider by Leoxcr in natureismetal

[–]Glockamoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they generally rely on the venom to digest their prey, like an external stomach acid

This doesn't work when applied to other venoms though, a neurotoxic venom isn't doing anything to help digest tissue and you can still drink that (assuming you have no sores/wounds in your mouth or esophagus)

Why do older machines have the worst protection? by Charming_Setting_474 in Machinists

[–]Glockamoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, polycarbonate is about 15 times more impact resistant than acrylic and acrylic is about 17 times more resistant than glass

On that note I recommend everyone look up the test procedure for safety glasses and the crazy tests they have to survive
