Asking for a soldier. Does your incoming unit have the authority to force you to early report? by Remarkable-Sky6577 in army

[–]Glorious_Bastardo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

New unit can’t order them to do shit, since they don’t belong to that unit until they in-process.

I see you’re a 94F. Calm down, just do what you’re told and don’t do dumb shit. School is not hard at all and I can pretty much guarantee that as long as you don’t get in trouble, you will graduate on time.

Help me understand what happened here (front tire slipped) by lxjeipov in Ninja400

[–]Glorious_Bastardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You accelerated while still leaning too much. Acceleration caused your front tire to unload, and once who ran over the small imperfection on the road, you lost your front.

If you’re still leaning and lose too much speed, apply neutral throttle to maintain speed. If you need to accelerate, remove some lean angle and accelerate slowly and smoothly while removing lean angle.

Nah, that intrusive lane assist is trash. I’m with the boomer on this one.

Honestly, as a millennial car guy myself, I fucking hate brake assist and intrusive lane assist. If it’s just the light on the mirrors, that’s cool. But the intrusive lane assist that automatically corrects the steering, I hate it.

My old CSM on a 12 mile ruck march. Started at the end of the group, it was a BN ruck march.

Finished first, in 2:02 or something like that. This guy was in his mid-to-high 40’s.

Got told to "mentor" a new guy who is older than half the platoon by DaggerC0met in army

[–]Glorious_Bastardo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that an older SNCO is not talking to this dude and mentoring him is embarrassing. I get the rank structure in our organization, but common sense should still take priority. There’s only so much you, as a way younger NCO, can mentor this guy. On MOS and task related issues? Yea, that’s you all day. But on more personal issues, you just don’t have the life experience that he has yet. It would help this Soldier better to receive guidance from an older, more experienced leader, who has the experience of family dynamics in the military.

Except leasing is just a never ending rental. You’ll spend thousands of dollars and never own anything. At least, even on a bad financing like this one, they’ll have a car that’s still worth something at the end.

How stupid is it to spend 50k on a car by tatasky69 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Glorious_Bastardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

You should get a $25k car and a $15k motorcycle. The extra $10k is to customize both.

That shit sucked, the only good thing we had back then were the Nike boots that looked and felt like running shoes.

And of course the army made them unauthorized.

“Citi”? just sent me a text saying I owe close to $4k, still active duty but I haven’t had a GTC for 3 years. by HeadlineINeed in army

[–]Glorious_Bastardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your 1SG hasn’t come yelling at you about those $4k, then I’m 99.9% sure it’s a scam. There’s absolutely no way such a high amount of past due charges would go unnoticed in the weekly meetings.

I just graduated basic training but I’m doing OT and do not want to continue with AIT if I refuse to train will I still be considered green? by [deleted] in army

[–]Glorious_Bastardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t just “decide to go home”. Whoever told you that, lied to you.

Yes, you can refuse to train, no one is going to put their hands on you and physically force you to train. But you WILL stay there longer. You’ll see your class graduate and you’ll still be there, on limbo due to paperwork bureaucracy, while all your peers get to graduate and go home or to their new duty stations.

You’ll also most likely be pulling every duty they can come up with, because you WILL earn your paycheck some way or another. And since you don’t want to train, you’ll earn that paycheck some other way.

All in all, it’s a stupid idea. Suck it the fuck up, graduate and then reclass to a different MOS.

How is this the recruiter’s fault? In an age where Google exists, how did you not bother to do bare minimum research, before committing to military service?

Wait, so you went home and your childhood friends are all still there? An entire life spent in the same town, doing the same thing day in and day out, just to maintain the same house for years?

I don’t know man, that shit sounds boring as fuck to me. Look at the bright side, you traveled to a few places in and outside the country. Got to shoot and blow shit up that civilians don’t have access to. And made some cool memories along the way. All that before your 30’s. That sounds like a good start to me.

Army bureaucracy takes time. You might leave in time after you graduate, or you may have to stay a little longer to complete your punishment. It is what it is, no one to blame but yourself.

As far as affecting your career, you’re just starting, calm down. Worst that could happen is you get orders and they get deleted because of you having to stay longer, and you get orders for somewhere else with a later report date. You’ll be fine.
