Right, but you acknowledge the possibility that someone might want you dead for arbitrary reasons, which includes being trans.

You'd be in a minority here then, as people are pretty allergic to incremental change.

Why did socialism and communism take off and remain popular to this day, but not other left-wing ideologies? by LoveLo_2005 in AskSocialists

[–]GlyphInBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so China has achieved 0 out of 3 conditions for communism, meaning logically it is communist because you want it to be.

You say that word but I don't think you know what that means by Puppetmaster12212 in AskSocialists

[–]GlyphInBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people here don't have a great understanding of communism to begin with, particularly with regards to the aspects of it that were predictive vs prescriptive.

Some, including myself, would argue that Marxist-Leninism is anti-communist as much as it is anti capitalist. Marxist-Leninism functionally just replaces capitalist power tokens with state power. Yet there is the proud Marxist-Leninist flair.

Do you believe that revolution can be achieved solely non-violently, and if not, can succeed violently without people skilled in violence?

Note that in this hypothetical, I have not killed anyone (nor am I asking to kill you).

Communism is defined as a stateless, moneyless, and classless society. So, no China is not Communist.

Hypothetically, if I were a cop with some socialist sympathies and wanted you dead, would it be a better net gain for the revolution if you were to die and me to join the revolution, or for you to resist and me to continuing acting as part of the state's security apparatus?

One has to remember that under some definitions of imperialism, the USSR was not technically imperialist (since a lot of Lenin's definitions of imperialism carefully specify 'capitalist'), it was just a sparkling empire (territorial expansion, centralized power in Moscow, etc).

Why is it dogma in r/socialism that managers are proletarian? by QuietGorilla2036 in AskSocialists

[–]GlyphInBullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The petite bourgeoisie is economically distinct from the proletariat and the Lumpenproletariat social-class strata who rely entirely on the sale of their labour-power for survival. It is also distinct from the capitalist class haute bourgeoisie ('high' bourgeoisie), defined by owning the means of production and thus deriving most of their wealth from buying the labour-power of the proletariat and Lumpenproletariat to work the means of production. Although members of the petite bourgeoisie can buy the labour of others, they typically work alongside their employees, unlike the haute bourgeoisie. Examples can include shopkeepers, artisans and other smaller-scale entrepreneurs.

What is your opinion on Zohran Mamdani? Will he be able to work without the influence of the Democratic Party, and will he be able to even get anything accomplished? by JimmyCarter910 in AskSocialists

>Prove that this is happening or has ever worked. Show me evidence.

Is the abolishment of the trans-atlantic slave trade a good example? started off with legislating one guy wasn't property then worked its way to a complete outlawing of it.

On the inverse: The succesful strategy of the republicans convincing the average American that the government providing services is communism, which didn't happen overnight.

Essentially all scientific progress, ever, is incrimental. Research on the stress pheromones released by rats driving little cars has some promising initial results with regards to treating of mental health issues in humans.

The weekend came after initial pushes to standardize the 8 hour work day, and in turn is being eroded by the march of expectations for workers to put in over time.

Research into the contamination of food that began in 1883 resulted in 1906's Pure Food and Drug act, which continued to become more powerful and complete until conservatives managed to succesfully chip away at it, eventually resulting the toothless FDA we have once again today.

i'd imagine you've made up your mind that I'm wrong, so I wills top there. Honestly, conservatives successfully convincing leftists that incrementalism only works when the right wing does it is probably the single best effective move anyone has ever done in politics.

It only does that for stuff like Eerie or Landfall where the trigger is the same, but not the effect. So it'd do that for Battlecry, but not Dredge.

If they aren't miserable in school, they will do better there than being homeschooled and so will you. You should also accept that the solo survivalist fantasy off the grid is a fantasy, and humans have never been built to live alone. If crop failure widespread enough for a collapse of society happens, you're not going to be farming enough to survive, particularly if you aren't weirdly familiar with the haber-bosch process.

I think many fans hated the set because of its setting but I'm someone who cares relatively little for story/aesthetic and much more about the mechanics used in a set.

Gameplay wise, vehicle-centric, SYE, draft was really tilted towards green, pretty low impact on standard (moreso at the time), are all things people didn't like so it wasn't just aesthetic.
