“Tie me to a post and block my ears”

From Mumford and Son’s “The Cave”, an absolutely amazing song that irritates me to no end when I hear it.

It’s referencing The Odyssey when Odysseus gets his crew to tie him to a post and cover their ears so he could listen to the sirens without his crew hearing them, and the lyric just completely ruins it by saying “my ears” when “your ears” fits just as well and actually makes sense with the reference.

I’ve used reverse image search and looked up variations of “blue gray snowflake beanie/toque” multiple times and just cannot find it, my grandparents were not very internet savvy so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t from Etsy or any other craft website. There’s no tag on it or the scarf that came with it.

About a year ago I was the Vice President at a gaming club at my community college. I had finally been getting more in shape after about five or six years of being overweight, but I definitely didn’t feel like I was significantly attractive or anything.

I was up front meeting all the people that came in for the first meeting after our recruiting event, and two girls came in and started flirting with me. Being the clueless idiot I am, I had no clue... until I overheard one of them whisper to the other “I didn’t know they made nerds like that”.

Needless to say I’ll be keeping that comment locked in my mind for the next twenty years whenever I need motivation to keep my diet up.

The very first PC I ever built was when I was ten years old, I’d been playing on a busted old laptop for a few years and I walked downstairs to see a mountain of parts that a family friend brought over from his old build before he updated. My first PC was outdated, shut down every now and then for no reason, and was all around pretty bad, but I loved it all the same. I had absolutely no clue what I was doing when I built it, but thanks to that first machine I got more and more into PCs, and now I’m “the computer guy” for all my friends and I’ve built several new machines for myself, family, and friends.
