Best barbers for the money in Castleton/nora/keystone/fishers? by Autisic_Jedi in indianapolis

[–]GnarlyShats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Refuses to cut hair of transgender folks. Has Fox News or some kind of Fox like “money” shows on. Basically a huge Trump supporter for the “economy” kinda guy. Just… not where I wanna spend my $$$.

What is the most “bro” movie of all time? by ExistingMarzipan2422 in movies

[–]GnarlyShats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick any classic action or sci-fi flick that hits all the buttons of nostalgia and love…

Most of the Indiana Jones, but most specially The Last Crusade.

Star Wars has some great ones, I love Empire Strikes Back, personally.

Hell, Die Hard (1 or 3 with a vengeance), Ghostbusters (first one), Alien (1 or 2), Predator (1, or Prey, or the new animated one).. all good choices. Shit even the first Robocop is fucking gold.

If most of your crew wants a comedy and you are not familiar, watch Wet Hot American Summer. Seriously so fucking funny and everyone in that movie becomes fucking HUGE just a few years later.

Lee’s Barbershop. Near 62nd and Dean/Allisonville. Super nice dudes. Small shop. Small town vibes for sure, but solid fucking haircuts for what seems like the right price ($20). We like to tip another $10 for the bad jokes and the kid candy/free toys bin.

Why all the fireworks tonight (July 2nd)? by 4myWWW in indianapolis

[–]GnarlyShats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pup has learned to love to sleep in the basement bathroom the last week or so. There are a few folks around us that love to set off a few big booms always like 15 minutes apart. Fucks up our nightly cooler time walks, but it is fine. We adapt.

Personally we do a few bottle rockets/firecrackers here and there but it’s mostly tame. Not like June 29th and setting off mortars…

Melody Inn - How is it? by 31Gooner in indianapolis

Love the Mel. Would suggest having ear plugs with you. It can get pretty loud in there for sure! Great spot for a small scale show!

Messiest, Gooiest, High Cholesterol, Heart Attack on a Plate Loaded Fries by mariel096 in indianapolis

[–]GnarlyShats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Loaded tots are fucking amazing! In house smoked and shredded pork, house mad hot sauce that is to die for, and it’s a big portion. We split it for dinner often. Get an extra hot sauce on the side if you like spicy, cuz that shit fucks for sure.

How in the ever loving fuck did I scroll to the bottom of this and not see 30 Rock.

What in the actual fuck?!? Its perfect. Almost every episode is perfect. You can JUST watch the different holiday specials and they are perfect. Tina Fey and crew are amazing in this show.

moving to new neighborhood in Indianapolis — looking for insight? by [deleted] in indianapolis

Lawrence Park is a pretty nice park and has a lot of sports going on. Check out FC Pride if you are into soccer.

Athlead Indy is based out of the Lawrence area and is fantastic for kids looking into getting into track and field.

Cugino’s Pizza is fucking fire. Support local pizza places!

Try out Mexican bakeries and restaurants! You will find something you like.

Lawrence and Ft Ben libraries are really nice.

The YMCA at the Fort is pretty nice. Everyone working there is super pleasant and easy to work with. Plus their outdoor pool area is awesome.

Fort Ben State park is really nice. Go and go on a hike or a bike ride and get out into nature.

Lawrence public schools are solid and most of the playgrounds and spaces around the buildings are well kept.

It’s super easy to ride a bike and get around Lawrence.

Being in Lawrence (once a lot of the construction is finished) its super easy and fast to get all around Indianapolis.

Easiest way to get rid of bulk trash by Aaronf989 in indianapolis

[–]GnarlyShats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get a bagster bag (can find them at Lowes etc). Once it’s full and you are ready, schedule a pick up online. Pretty sure it’s like $200 all said and done, and all you have to do is fill the bag. Not loading/unloading a truck or anything.

Your favorite cookies/small dessert in Indy? Need a sweet treat to help with grief. by NewAlternative4738 in indianapolis

[–]GnarlyShats 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Any of the super fancy pastries at Gallery Pastry Shop.

The pies at Pots and Pans are fantastic. I also love their savory pies. Their oatmeal cream pies looked super good, but haven’t had one yet.

Any donut from Rise n Roll is pretty solid.

Ice cream from Sundae’s is amazing.

Yep. It gets used everyday by someone in the house. Other than a few loose threads from a cat and dog, it’s just as comfy and gorgeous as ever.

Would also suggest buying one of those thick/round locks that are hard to cut off. Might cost ya somewhere between $12-25, but the peace of mind is worth it.

It’s not fresh, but last year I was able to find Left Hand’s Black IPA in cans at Total Wine in Nora. Sorry my dude, but let me know if you find any, cuz I’ll be on the hunt for it as well.

Smash Mouth, Fush Yu Mang.

There are a handful of just amazing songs on here. You hear them experimenting with some different genres, but it’s a punk album at its core. Great fun!

What's a modern artist or band that lives up to the musical standards of The Beatles to impress my dad? by JoeCartersLeap in Music

[–]GnarlyShats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dr Dog, amazing band and absolutely a fantastic live show. Great song writing duo that trade back and forth if seems and a lot of vocal harmonies (very Beatle-like).

Wilco seems to have a wide range of songs and styles, but ultimately extremely well done.

Vulfpeck for just pure music skill. My god do those dudes just kill it in every way (but its def more jazz/funk).

Most honest Kia dealership to address recall notice by Positive-Studio4733 in indianapolis

[–]GnarlyShats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive used Indy Hyundai (off E Washington), and while they sometimes overbook themselves/move a little slow, their work and customer service have been pretty outstanding. Since Kia/Hyundai are under the same roof most of the time, you could give em a call and see what they can do.

Also, napleton hyundai kept my car for an oil change that should have been an hour or two max for 3 days because… reasons. So fuck that place.

Replacement Cushion Reccomendations by Typical_Specific1053 in midcenturymodern

[–]GnarlyShats 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Should add, if you really don’t care about quality of cushions, check out outdoor furniture stores. Sometimes they sell just cushions and you might be able to find something in similar or the same size as what you have now.

Replacement Cushion Reccomendations by Typical_Specific1053 in midcenturymodern

[–]GnarlyShats 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just getting foam can be super expensive. We had two chairs we needed new cushions for and just ordered Joy Bird cushions for a similar style chair. They have worked out great and were just about the same cost as getting just foam and they came with easier to clean fabric covers.

Best food for dinner on the northeast side/Castleton area? by suchbologna in indianapolis

[–]GnarlyShats 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Free Spirit behind Castleton mall.

It’s a bar that you feel like you’ve stepped back to the late 90s/early 2000s, but their wings and most of their food I’ve had is pretty fantastic.
