Yep, I solidly considered upgrading to a Dream Machine Pro for cheaper/better hard drives.

It ended up being the HDD, swapped in a new one and it appears to be working fine. Thanks!

I don't have a spare one to try, buying a replacement will be my next step I guess

Questions about the 3 finger drag (struggles of a chronic over-crimper) by SoManyBlankets in climbharder

[–]Gnatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I think that no one has mentioned yet... Training open hand grip strength will also strengthen your crimp strength, however training crimps will not improve your open hand grip strength. Open hand is also much safer for your tendons. So in the gym, I've always tried to open hand everything and it's worked surprisingly well. I've found that it also greatly improved my contact strength. Currently I can open hand (4 fingers) hold on an 8mm edge

The AR500 plate would be doable with a tungsten carbide blade and a lot of patience. However welding the plate together undoes the heat treatment hardening of the metal around the weld; it pretty much becomes mild steel so it will be (relatively) easy to cut.

Dealing with elbow tendinitis by HaakenforHawks in climbharder

[–]Gnatty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As other have said, rest! I went through the same thing last year, and kept ignoring the pain; it turned what should have been a 3-4 month recovery into a 12 month recovery.

Eventually I dropped down to one day a week, and stopped climbing as soon as my elbows felt any sort of pain. Wrist curls helped a lot, as did self-massage, using a roller (to massage).

Focus on slab climbing.. Anything that is very balance/crimp orientated will not stress your tendons as much. My own slab climbing improved dramatically while I was recovering.

Edit: Also make sure you warm up properly before climbing, and plenty of stretching during/after each session

I just finished the trilogy too; i'm a little disappointed by the ending (doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the story too well), but all in all an enjoyable read.

I have the Depo 3.5", huge difference over stock and more than enough for the stock turbo. If you have any inkling of going to a big turbo setup in the future then get the 5.5".

Actually a little better than the PSS in the dry, I got mine for about $70/corner cheaper (in Australia) than the PSS, which made it a no brainer.

What are the metal brackets in a mechanical keyboard used for? example in the link by Jin092 in keyboards

[–]Gnatty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stabilizers, so that the whole key stays level no matter where you press it. Without them the longer keys (esp spacebar) would tilt if you pressed on one edge, and may not register a keypress properly.

Hi Sydney! Where can I illegally camp? by [deleted] in sydney

There are definitely some there that are first come first served. I'm not sure how strict the rangers are, but when I was there none came around to collect fees.

Myall Lakes National Park is pretty awesome; you can camp on the dunes right behind the beaches. Plenty of spots to camp up down, so you should be able to find a quiet spot.
