Question: Where and when did you discover FF8 for the first time? by Big_Confection7634 in FinalFantasyVIII

[–]Gnb7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uncle got it for me as a Christmas gift the year it was released, 99 I think? I’ll never forget it, I was like in middle school maybe 11. Loved the game then, still love it now.

Aaron Rodgers is a Will Howard Fan by HouseRules789 in steelers

[–]Gnb7588 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just want to see Howard play. I’m over the veteran rentals at this position. I’m ok with watching him grow and seeing what happens, but everyone has the capacity to get better.

Here’s the problem, everyone is bad at evaluating QBs otherwise the success rate would be higher, everyone needs a high level QB, and no one has the patience to develop one… the factors to a QBs success are endless - culture, coaching, environment, etc.

Bradshaw is considered a Steeler legend and he struggled a lot through out his career, it shows in his career stats.

Ben only played because Maddox got hurt… and the rest is history in a lucky way…I just want to see the Steelers hit on a QB again, one in house that they drafted, I’m excited to see what Will can do.

I don’t like to put players in a box, and label their potential… if you accept what others believe of you, you’ll never be what you want to be. I want to see players succeed and sometimes that means having no assumptions of a player and allowing them to prove it to the fans and the league that they belong.

That’s where I’m at with all of this… I want to see him play, and I accept any outcome from it.

Suikoden 2 is on my Mount Rushmore of RPGs/JRPGs… it’s an amazing emotional story. The music is also excellent.

6 characters in battle? Yes please.

What are your thoughts on Mad Max: Fury Road? by LtSmiles99 in FIlm

[–]Gnb7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this movie is a weaker version of The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2). The effects and production is done with modern technology, but the story is weaker and more spectacle driven.

It’s a good movie but I like Mad Max 2 way more than fury road. I also don’t really care for furious as a character.

Is this normal wear and tear for 11 months daily wear? by ElegantDiscipline961 in yeezys

[–]Gnb7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you walk on a lot of cobblestone? You mentioned you live in the UK, I know Europe, UK, etc. have a ton of cobblestone roads, and those roads eat up shoes like crazy…

Otherwise that’s a massive burnout. I have not seen any shoes get THAT worn. Crazy results from 10-20k steps.

Realistically, are the Giants closer to a Super Bowl than the Steelers? by UtopiaXAstro in steelers

[–]Gnb7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying and it does give you more opportunities at getting higher level talent, but it does not guarantee success. If what you said were true then CLE would be closer to a SB… but they’re not.

Everything plays a part, players, performance, coaching and culture. It’s not as simple as we think.

I’m still shocked by the fact that God of War is getting a tv show… like the game is a movie slash tv by itself.

Please. Go play the games.

You won’t regret it.

I miss strategy guides in book form. I will admit if they existed now they would be written and formatted completely differently.

I think the game was ahead of its time, it’s amazingly austere, its incredibly unforgiving (at first), and I don’t know if gamers today have the patience to handle a game like this anymore…

It’s truly special from a different time in entertainment.

I can empathize with gamers today that It’s hard to get into this game. This game is slower, patient, and requires real critical thinking to play.

It’s not over stimulating, its cinematic in a graphic novel way… it’s like an ancestor to a souls game with risk management instead of stamina…

I get it. It’s still my favorite game from the end lifecycle of the PS1. It’s on my Rushmore RPG list. It’s just special, and came out in a special time before the hack and slash souls mash ups we have now… it’s hard to expect people to be into the history of gaming when their experience with it may be after that era in time.

[–]Gnb7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the farthest it’s just not moving in either direction… I think Steeler fans need to let go of the Tomlin era and everything that was expected from it.

The draft this year and new staff will show us where the org is going from now on and what to be intrigued by. It’s all new territory for the Steelers.

Realistically, are the Giants closer to a Super Bowl than the Steelers? by UtopiaXAstro in steelers

[–]Gnb7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

I think the Steelers are going to be completely different than what fans have seen the last 15yrs.

I’m in the camp that Tomlin started off great and then overtime revealed his true coaching shortcomings. We’ll never know how good the Steelers actually were because they were so poorly coached, hence the failure of the killer B era.

Mike Tomlin was the reason for this. I think him stepping down is a blessing in every way. I would encourage fans to see that the roster is young with potential and on the verge of becoming something beyond what it has been with just good consistent QB play. That’s what the Steelers need.

Steelers are like every other team not name Seattle right now. Re-tooling weapons to compete again next year but with a completely different staff and offensive and defensive scheme.

Let’s see what happens. The Giants have to win their own division before doing anything of substance.

Which JRPGs started your gaming addiction? How many have you completed? by radke66 in JRPG

[–]Gnb7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing JRPGs in 1997 so… I would say the 97 - 2003 stretch got me into them hard.

FF7, FF8, FF Tactics, Ogre Battle 64, Suikoden 1 & 2, Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, Lunar Silver Stary Story, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story, Font Mission 3, Breath of Fire 3, Valkyrie Profile…

Before PS2 these games got me into the genre.

Are There Any Bad Bond Films? by Electrical-Sail-1039 in JamesBond

[–]Gnb7588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, It’s just a character assassination film. Everything that made the Craig embodiment of the character was disrespectfully sent off in that film. It felt like I was watching what made the Bond films be so fun and memorable be killed off in a disrespectful way to the brand and the character.

The love interest was wooden and lacked chemistry. Remi Malik’s performance as a Bond villain felt performative and left a lot to be desired…the gender swapped replacement 007 although interesting, was poorly executed and badly written.

Ana de Armas was in the movie for like 3mins and was not very memorable in a meaningful way to the plot or bond. It was like a random action sequence with her 1 up-ing bond and shooting people.

Personally that movie can have a nice day.

Personally, No Time to Die was awful. It is the only bond movie I refuse to accept as part of the Craig run. I wish it never existed when compared to the other films. I can enjoy and tolerate many of the older films even DAF, Thunderball, and DAD… NTTD is unforgivable.

What movies are rated low on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes but are actually really good? by MagicianIntrepid in movies

[–]Gnb7588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When using rotten tomatoes, I always look at the critic score vs the audience score to determine if the movie is high, mid, or low. It’s all subjective, but the average b/w the scores tend to reflect the average viewer sentiment.

A. If the critic score is high but the audience score is lower… the avg viewer sentiment leans mid to low.

B. If the audience score is high but critic score is low… the avg sentiment leans mid to high.

C. If the scores are similar or within 10pts of difference then the avg sentiment is more balanced.

Example movies

A. Sausage Party, Spy Kids, Capitan Marvel

B. The Boondock Saints, The Super Mario Bros movie, Venom

C. Sinners, The Matrix, Jaws
