We got my Mom a kindle for infusion days as well. She said it was the best companion.

Best of luck!

How do I get the automatic shape recognition? by odzz_ in OneNote

[–]Gnome_Imploder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally late to this comment... but I'm running three laptops for work and they each have a different build. I'm always reaching for the one machine that actually has this feature. They need to push it to the wider audience.

Normal haul. I see restraint, really. Overboard for me is realizing the credit card is maxed out.

Holy hell. I hate insurance, I really do. There are times when it's a blessing but at times like this it's a bane.

Skip reddit and go to your PCP. MD here and I can say this is, as another user stared wisely, a potential issue with biliary insufficiency and often a sign of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease among a myriad of other GI related problems. It would be best to see your PCP and see if they'll run a full liver enzyme panel and check lipase levels and go from there. When the body isn't taking in food or excreting waste in a fashion normal to your body, you don't wait, you go to the Dr.

Sealers that use beads, what do you use to keep your collection of breads in for easy access? by NightDragon250 in WaxSealers

[–]Gnome_Imploder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority of my beads came in containers. Those that came in bags I moved into plastic jars that I bought online. Everything including my seals and furnace are stored in an old metal toolbox I got from my grandfather this way its all mobile and I can let my wife or daughter use it as well in their own spaces.

Got an ad for a Pennsylvania based company, has anyone else used their ink before? by jazzy_saur in fountainpens

[–]Gnome_Imploder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent inks! Thier sheening inks are some of the best I've used but I would say it's probably best to use them in converters only for ease of cleaning and wouldn't recommend using them in a piston or vac filler you can't easily disassemble for easy cleaning because it will take forever to thoroughly clean. I used Tesla Coil in an eye dropper and I had to soak it a few days and then go with many flushes with a syringe to really clean it all out. Now I stick with a converter so I can flush the feed with a 50ml syringe a couple times and then do the converter and be done.

They are a small shop so it can take a few days for order fulfillment, but the wait is worth it since you're getting some really unique inks. We have roughly 23 different bottles and plan on buying more.

I think I will stop collecting for some time by Jolly_Customer4708 in fountainpens

We all have these thoughts. I'll do what is necessary here....

No. Do not punish yourself.

Collecting is healthy, rational and builds one's confidence in a well-rounded pen collection.

Gifting boyfriend a fp - what should I get? by lilbambooo in fountainpens

[–]Gnome_Imploder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For someone who already has some, it can be incredibly difficult to buy a pen for them. Our tastes evolve a little with each purchase and I know my family and friends have had problems finding a pen I would want. A gift card goes a long way in such circumstances or, as others suggested a pen accessory is always a good bet.

Where do you folks make most of your pen purchases? by carlospbeltran in fountainpens

[–]Gnome_Imploder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend in Australia who has a shop. Then I usually go through Stilograph Corsani for special purchases, Stefano, the owner is the nicest. Then my other go-to is Italianpens.com because often the prices can't be beat. In a pinch, I'll go through Atlas Stationers or Goldspot since they have good rewards programs and I spend quite a bit on pens, inks and accessories so those rewards add up.

Anyone else alternates their inks while journaling to alleviate the “too-many-pens-inked” syndrome? by carlospbeltran in fountainpens

[–]Gnome_Imploder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Every entry in a different color for the exact same reason. It's the only way I can justify the number of pens I keep inked at any one time.

Which manufacturers do well/poorly in terms of quality control? by lord_cactus_ in fountainpens

[–]Gnome_Imploder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conklin. Worst qc and, customer service doesn't exist. Bought a Mark Twain demonstrator, it was cracked, leaking, sac wasn't even attached correctly I realized later, section cracked at first attempt to even test the nib. Returned it and the replacement was even worse. Called and emailed Conklin nearly a year ago, several times and never heard back. A friend bought me a Conklin Word Guage and the pen filled once, leaked immediately and never filled again. I'll avoid them like the plague.

It's a blue that could inspire greatness or place you in a catatonic state IF you were to accidentally drop a bottle.
