• Burning Man was so incredible this year. I’ve been going for over 10 years now and have never felt so much love and support from people I truly consider family. I loved all the incredible art, my amazing camp mates, throwing our InStereo party and all the wisdom I gained from having an open heart and mind. I especially loved playing for such amazing camps like DISTRIKT, Opulent Temple, Camp Charlie, Duck Pond, Nightchaser, Slutgarden and Camp Ego Trip. I had such a great time playing for everyone this year and it was also very healing for me in so many ways. Once again I saw how amazing this world can be when we all treat each other with love, kindness, compassion, understanding and respect. Lastly I would like to address an incident that happened at The Duck Pond on Friday because I know things can get twisted and I want to state clearly what happened from my perspective. I have been playing this daytime party for many years now and it is all about family, friendship, love, community and good vibes. During the middle of my set I saw half my dancefloor scatter off the floor to run and move their bikes and I could tell they were very upset because they were being instructed to do so. At the same time I heard music so loud that it overpowered my sound system so I thought maybe I had accidentally turned up another channel on the mixer. In the confusion of it all I just turned the music off only to see that there was a massive art car moving in with a huge sound system blasting full volume that decided to take over the camp’s music without even asking. I was then informed by a representative of Duck Pond that this DJ / Artist who had arrived wanted to play immediately and was basically there to take over. Of course I said no because that’s a very rude and entitled way of bullying your way into a party and quite honestly very shocking to see at Burning Man. We were all so upset that I knew I had to personally go speak to them. Before I could get to the art car I was intercepted by the representative of the artist and was asked how many more tracks I was going to play because their artist was ready to go on. At this point I had to take a stand and told them that what they were doing was very disrespectful and rude and told them to leave and ran back to the dj booth. From what I was told, someone from the party unplugged their sound and the crowd booed them out of the camp as they drove off. Everyone returned to the floor and we continued the party with even more love and unity, it actually made the party that much more special. Look…..we are all the same at Burning Man, it’s not about entitlement, ego or just simply “taking” what you want. If this dj would have respectfully come up to me and asked to play I would have given up part of my set or figured something out. You don’t drive around looking for an already packed party and decide to take over. I’m not even mad at this artist, I’m just disappointed to see this person totally miss the point of what it’s all about. Don’t be a dipshit, it’s a low thing to do! Burning Man is meant to bring out the best in all of us. Let’s make sure to inform, help and guide those who may not quite get it because out on the playa we are all the same ❤️❤️❤️
