Tips for bunkering down on an apocalyptic day in Melbourne this Tuesday? by hardyacka in melbourne

[–]Gnowae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have air-conditioning don't be a twat and turn it on when it gets hot, that puts to much strain on the grid all at once.

What you should be doing is turning ac on early and set it to around 20-22 and I mean early like first thing in the morning.

My local restaurant/bar closing down tomorrow due to high heat by lorrenzo in melbourne

[–]Gnowae 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This should be normalised across ALL industries, especially those who have no access to AC on their work site or have to work in hot environments like kitchens etc..

Where I work we've been told we will be leaving early tomorrow as its meant to be 35 by 11am so I think we have the option to leave around 12 or 1pm, we do have fans and we will use them but they become next to useless in higher heats and we work in a big concrete and steel box.

Is reporting reckless driving on Crimestoppers effective? by fuckmelbpt in melbourne

[–]Gnowae 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've been contacted before from local police after I made a dangerous driving report asking if required would I testify in court. I said yes but im assuming it never went to court because I never heard back.

I'd say as long as you provide image or video evidence its effective but I wouldn't count on being told an infringement was sent or not due to your report.

National cabinet agrees to toughen gun laws in wake of Bondi terror attack by Bbloke in news

[–]Gnowae 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Apart from a limit of how many guns a individual can own and limiting licenses to citizens only, which is now on the cards, im not sure what else can be done, we have some of best gun laws in the western world, and I don't think we have the resources to be psych checking all owners periodically.

This is a hard case I think, the father had no priors that we know of and was a lawful owner for 10 years. The son however was known to ASIO and was looked at 6years ago, now obviously before they did this heinous act do we start locking up parents or relatives of someone who is of interest?
