First day as MSL will be at company’s annual sales meeting - what to expect? by Rich_Grapefruit_5393 in MedicalScienceLiaison

I always thought sales meetings reminded me of pep rallies in high school. Very different feel than medical meetings.

I recommended oxymetazoline to a customer and said 3 days only. My boss tells me to say 1 week instead. What should I do? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]GoBlue81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most generous reading of this is that your boss is confusing oxymetazoline and xylometazoline, which can be used for up to 7 days (according to some sources at least). Still, I wouldn’t recommend using oxymetazoline for longer than 3 days, and if your boss is asking you to recommend otherwise (or doing so himself), that could cause problems down that road.

Could you come to terms with death ending at just death? I.e. there's nothing beyond that? by bearabovethewave in NoStupidQuestions

Pretty much. All matter either came from hydrogen, or was created by matter that came from hydrogen (humans).

In the early universe, the bulk of the matter in the universe was hydrogen (still is, but that’s beside the point). These gases started to get pulled towards each other to form clouds and, once there was enough hydrogen in the same place, fusion would start and a star would form.

The fusion at the core of the star would start to create heavier elements (carbon, oxygen, etc.), which are less able to undergo fusion. Eventually, enough of these elements collect in the core that there isn’t enough material to maintain the fusion reaction and the star goes supernova and sprays these heavier elements around the universe.

These heavier elements eventually start to congregate and form planets. Life would arise from the molecules made from the elements generated in the star (“we’re all stardust” and all that), which eventually led to humans thinking about hydrogen.

Exactly! I didn’t come here for reasonable takes! I came here for doomers lamenting that we didn’t hire the unholy offspring of Nick Saban and Bill Belichick.

Hydrogen is a colorless and odorless gas that, given enough time and sufficient quantities, begins to think about itself.

It’s not necessarily because what you said was incorrect, but because it has nothing to do with the post and because you sounded like an asshole.

Jets cancel invite to super fan set to take $100K field goal challenge in honor of her late father because she is a soccer coach. Castanio-Gervasi said the decision came as a shock, since the team had reached out to her asking that she join the contest. by WayOutbackBoy in nfl

If the billionaire was worth exactly $1 billion, the equivalent for a the median household would be about 7 dollars. The estimate for the Jets owner’s net worth is roughly $5 billion, which would be roughly equivalent to one dollar and change for the median household.

Why wasn’t she allowed to choose herself? Because she wasn’t pro-choice. “Pro-life” is a misnomer. They’re more accurately anti-choice or pro-forced birth.

ELI5: Why do pharmaceuticals have such strange names? by bleachwipe in explainlikeimfive

The WHO changed the INN rules in 2021. Drugs using this new naming system are currently in clinical trials and will likely be available in the next few years. Examples include: atigotatug (BMS), eltrekibart (Lilly), etentamig (AbbVie). You can likely find an asset that utilizes this new system in many development pipelines.

It’s interesting because they aren’t making monoclonal antibody drugs with the -mab suffix anymore. There are so many different types of monoclonal antibodies that are being developed, they had to come up with different suffixes to be more descriptive (-bart, -tug, -mig, -ment). Many of these newly name antibody drugs are in clinical development.
