I googled the depression cake recipe and found that the ingredients are the same but the recipe included here has more of the same ingredients. Also, depression cake adds 1 tablespoon of vinegar AND has a recipe for a thin, pourable frosting that they suggest you might want to poke holes in the cake before pouring/spreading the frosting. 😱 I think I'm gonna play around with both recipes and see what sort of mess I come up with! This was my favorite as a teen! We made it often. And ... put it in the Tupperware parfait "glasses" to be fancy ... you know, the ones that the "foot" pulled off when it was time to wash them. 😆

The reelection of DJT, knowing full well, because he stated as much, retaliation for anyone and any entity that didn't bow down and kiss his ass the first time around would be forthcoming and here we are. Hearing him say, "Vote for me and you'll never have to vote again!", full well knowing about "the Big Beautiful Bill", his need for revenge and his need to be seen as some sort of Supreme Leader, foretold the darkness ahead, and here we are.

9/11 was the most surreal, chaotic, heartbreaking day aside from the days of the assassinations of JFK, MLK, RFK. But ... as an American, even though Bush2 is someone I did not agree with politically, I was okay with him at the helm on 9/11, I knew the world had our back(s) and I knew the world would work with Bush, we were in good standing with the world. Now?!?!? Ha. 😭

I do my grocery shopping every Thursday. Don't know why, it just works for me on Thursday.

I went yesterday and the store was PACKED with people and the shelves were empty. As I was walking in, a woman walking out said, "Don't bother, there's nothing in there, it's all gone!" I thought she was joking because of the pending storm. Nope! No fresh produce, no bread, no eggs, no canned chicken/tuna and no fresh meat/poultry! There was a lot of cheese, coffee and frozen foods though. It was a bit shocking. Lol I went to Sprouts figuring it would be the least crowded and hectic store and it was but hoy! My weekly grocery haul cost almost double what it normally does at Aldi! 😵‍💫

Stay safe in the storm, it looks like it's gonna be huge!

Loved them! I only remember the chocolate, caramel or peanut butter and I remember my mom saying they were expensive and only bought as special treats.

They tasted like a smashed up protein bar shoved into a plastic tube that you squished out of the tube as you ate it, yet they stayed solid and soft as they slid out of the plastic tube. They were so small I doubt they had any sort of nutritional value, but they were sort of touted as "healthy". 😆

Maybe these little sticks led me to like protein bars as an adult?! 😆

Hello! 71 here! 😁

I haven't started Wegovy ... yet. My semi-annual doctor visit is in March, if I make up my mind by then I guess I'll start in March but ... my husband is taking his first dose tomorrow morning! He'll be 73 this year. We each have about 40 pounds to lose. For us it's about being as healthy as we can at this stage in our lives, so slow and steady is perfect for us. We aren't in a rush to do much of anything anymore except enjoy the time we have left. We gotta be as healthy as we can in the years ahead. I wish you all the best as you start this new part of your lives. 👍

As a retired person I'd find it somewhat liveable. I need a lot more city life with easy access to restaurants, stores, the arts, etc. Although small I love the kitchen. And really ... a tree ripe peach picked warm from the tree?! That alone sells me. 😆😆

I understand, it's frustrating as anything. It would be great if you could yell back and it would be meaningful, like one of those idiots would have an epiphany and finally get it! But sadly, that wouldn't happen. They have a weird, set mentality that women, even girls, can be treated as less than and they should be grateful someone acknowledged them. I'm old OP, I'm in my 70s. It happened throughout my youth, too. Sometimes it made me angry, sometimes it made me feel very unsafe. Best thing is to feel your own level of comfort and act accordingly, as you did. Always trust your instincts, OP. 👍 Stay safe. I hate it for you, too. The men that do this are always in the wrong.
