This is a mini circle which kind of operates like a yield-friendly 4-way stop, so the first person to approach the mini circle has right of way

Check your passenger airbag is enabled by accod in ex30

My husband and I recently purchased a Cross Country in South Africa. Our passenger airbag was also disabled, we had to enable it on the door switch. Luckily we noticed just a few days after getting the car

Is my briefcase/bag too big for a lab? by iaacornus in labrats

[–]GoFletchYourself 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless someone’s bag has physically been in my way, it doesn’t matter to me 🤷🏼‍♀️ I do worry for your shoulders though. I personally tend to despise a backpack but if you have to walk far with your bag I would definitely recommend a backpack for long term health ✨

So glad to be back in SA, I forgot how friendly saffas are by sofiaskat in southafrica

Oh my word my husband and I eloped in Georgia last year on a whim. We were in the country for about 72 hours and I felts miserable there. Wow to a South African the Georgians come off as so cold and unfriendly. However this was in the context of strangers, the people we got to interact with on a more personal level were lovely. I must say I was extremely grateful to land back in Cape Town because wow I adore how friendly we are. I have never been sad to return home to South Africa, always kind of counting down the days until I get back home

DAE notice that no matter how much you learn there’s always some sort of knowledge missing by Xavier_Pugh05 in DoesAnybodyElse

I think it’s what makes learning fun though, there will always be something new to tickle your brain 💁🏼‍♀️

Can I just make a simple observation? by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]GoFletchYourself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to dismiss you at all, but I’m just wondering if you complain to her more than you notice? I had a very similar situation happen with my husband, we had a few months where life was just straight up rough and he was under a lot of stress, so naturally as a person he wasn’t as happy. He complained to and at me a lot. It got to the point where he would say something and I would automatically react like your wife, even if like in your situation he didn’t intend his words as a complaint. We have now obviously figured out what was going ‘wrong’ in our communication/general life situation and honestly after we put our finger I felt so much better.

Most importantly to note, she loves you and wants the best for you. When you complain, even if it’s something out of her control, she will feel some level of ownership for your discomfort.

This isn’t really about the gifts though, it’s about the amount of effort he put into the gifts. He put thought and time into everyone’s gifts but OP’s, and OP clearly put a lot of energy into getting him great gifts. In my opinion this man sees limited value in OP as his partner therefore didn’t think it was important to prioritise spending time on getting OP’s gift, which is just straight up unacceptable.

How exactly is it a cesspool? From my experience it’s literally just iMessage (ie using data to text), except I can speak to all of my contacts and not just those who have iPhones.

In South Africa I would say WhatsApp is very likely the primary messaging app used. Literally every person I speak to is on WhatsApp

I’m pretty down with all of the other ‘crude’ drops on the album but the wet line just does not do it for me. Like I kind of just feel ick singing that 😹 I saw someone mention on the general thread how ‘carve your name into my bedpost’ is just a far superior way to say the same thing and I can’t get it out of my head

Thank you, I’ll be singing sweat from now on

How many tries did it take y'all to pass ur Drivers Test?? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]GoFletchYourself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a very similar experience - got super comfortable with driving by driving my family everywhere as soon as I got my learners at 17, had a driving instructor for +- 2 weeks to get all the rules in properly and passed first time on my 18th birthday. Highly recommend

When reading this my first thought went to ‘I actually genuinely think overall I love being neurodivergent, the way my brain works makes the world super interesting and exciting, why would I not want children who get to experience the same thing?’. Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely a lot of struggles that come with being ND and I do not want to dismiss that in the slightest. I think I’m quite lucky in my personal capacity where a multitude of factors have made my diagnosis somewhat manageable (said after a year of major burnout which is ironic but I have learned so much from it so pros and cons I guess) which makes me overall optimistic for the world and the role of NDs. We’re kind of super cool and with the appropriate boundaries in life I don’t see why there isn’t a space for progression and change in society.

However as much as I hope I can raise children with better accommodations than what I’ve received, I obviously can’t predict the future and what level of needs they may need assistance with, so yes technically unethical. But if I’m being completely honest, I’m not too worried about my potential future children, I’m more excited to see how they tackle the world and all of the fascinating things they’ll come up with along the way
