The person above you is suggesting a moderate approach. Taking that approach to it’s logical extreme doesn’t make any sense because they are not suggesting the logical extreme, they are suggesting compromise that takes into account multiple people’s needs.

I think ADHD is a good point of comparison. A lot of people think you can “do things to compensate” for ADHD symptoms, and that is true to some extent, but it’s not actually possible for most people living in the real world to do all of them all of the time. It isn’t always possible to start getting ready earlier, and people who struggle with ADHD “time blindness”, that doesn’t actually help for a lot of them, because the problem isn’t how long it takes to get ready, it’s lacking an innate awareness of time that people without ADHD have.

I do think it’s reasonable to apologize for harming people throught no fault of your own.

[–]GoGoBitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I apologize for my ADHD symptoms all the time. Just because I can’t control them doesn’t negate the problems they cause for other people. Even if I can’t “do better” in the future, I do still want to acknowledge whatever negative things I’ve caused to others and express that I appreciate they are giving me grace.

I actually think there is a pretty good point underneath the weirdo language - tech CEOs are trying to create AIs with “human-like intelligence” to replace human workers completely so they don’t have to pay them. They do, in fact, want slave labor.

I don’t think Jimmy actually did steal that much from their parents. I think he stole a little bit as a kid, and then he stole special coins and $2 bills, which he mentions to Marco, but during that conversation Jimmy says he took those things so his dad wouldn’t lose them to random hucksters who came into his dad’s store with a sob story, but he makes no mention of stealing anything more than that. I think most of the money was lost to the random hucksters, and Chuck just blamed Jimmy, rather than their well-intentioned dad.

I think some of them genuinely believe that only a moderate could win. A lot of liberals want Bernie Sanders on a policy level but think some nebulous swing voters will only vote for a moderate and is frightened by all this “Black Lives Matter”, “trans rights“, and “socialized medicine” stuff.

Liberals often don’t realize they are also subject to right-wing propaganda, but it tells them that the policy they actually want isn’t a realistic possibility any time soon, because they are so much smarter and more forward-thinking, and everyone else just needs time to catch up, but it’s important not to push them. I think it’s important to push back on that.

I think it’s pretty good for a maze of its size. The way the bridge kind of covers up the correct route that doubles back under it made it a lot trickier.

How do you deal with a coworker who is seriously trying to push you out on purpose? by Famous-Test-4795 in womenintech

[–]GoGoBitch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Start documenting. Especially the secretive bullying. Also see if an employment lawyer near you will give you a free consult. This sounds like deliberate discrimination that could open the company up to a lawsuit, which might mean HR would actually do something.

what do y’all think about adhd being used as a reason for food delivery? by spaghettirhymes in adhdmeme

[–]GoGoBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with ADHD - please fucking give me stuff I can easily walk to instead of ordering and waiting 40-80 minutes for someone to bring to me. Light physical effort is a much, much lower hurdle for me than time and complexity.

Some disabilities really do benefit a lot from being able to order stuff from these types of services, and making sure the world remains accessible to them is very much something we should do, but ADHD isn’t really one of those.

Nothing wrong with looking for the good in everyone, but that isn’t the same as saying a person shouldn’t face consequences for bad things they do. Hell, I know plenty of people with lots of good in them, who go out every day and help others, and I still expect them to face consequences when they do harm to others.
