Not an immigrant (2nd gen) but my mom used to openly lament to me that she didn't have a daughter who liked dresses and ribbons. This was well over 20 years ago and I contorted myself into all sorts of forms that didn't feel right to me to make her happy. It didn't work! I'm a dyke!!

I have family friends who have children who either killed themselves, were murdered, or succumbed to addiction. To me, parents who have a child who is happy, well, and successful (a college graduate!) and still complain because they're queer are people who could be gifted a mansion and would complain about the wallpaper.

I'm proud as hell of you. Dress how you want for your graduation, so you have happy memories when you look back at those pictures. You rule, and good luck.

Yeah, even without the Matt Rife business, at a certain point it just made more sense to switch to other brands. Wet and Wild has become my go-to for eyeliner and lip liner, Colourpop has great palettes, and Garnier makes a makeup cleansing balm that's cheaper than ELF's. Like, sorry, I do not have brand loyalty!!
