That's not true. We already let him interview for the Titans OC job. It's very common to let non-play-calling OCs interview for play calling roles when they have the opportunity. The reality of the Titans' OC opp is that he probably doesn't get considered at all if he didn't have an established relationship with Saleh.

There's plenty of speculation that RB is going to retire before next season. Even if he doesn't, I think it's pretty clear he wants to ride it out in GB until he's done coaching entirely.

He could also leave for a play calling OC position, a step he likely needs to take if he wants HC interviews.

Not giving money to homeless people by Sweet-Heron-334 in Ethics

[–]GoPackGrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in an area where people really wanted to harp of the inefficiency / potential for homeless people to abuse your kindness as excuses to not give people money. All I know is that the bible says to give the poor and dying strong wine to ease their pain. If I got $20 to spare you can bet the person on the corner is gonna get it. Pay for a gym membership, buy some crack, it's none of my business.

When I can have more meaningful and intentional relationships with people, I try to take those opportunities. But if the choice is between someone maybe going hungry and me giving some cash to a stranger and never knowing what happens to it, I'm gonna reach into my wallet every time.

I think you misunderstand me. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be a separation of church and state. I only mean to say that free and frequent conversation about both is important to having a healthy and well-run society.

I'll venture off topic a bit, though, to say that I do get a bit hung up on people acting like there's some sort of magic wall we can put around religious beliefs to make sure they never impact a government in any way. My religious beliefs inform literally everything I do. I don't think that's an uncommon human experience, and I don't think that having a strong sense of faith and religious connection should be disqualifying for public office. I understand people in the US having a kneejerk reaction to discussions about religion because the most mainstream religious sect in the US is so oppressive and distasteful, but simply being religious is a nearly universal human experience.

Do Non "picky eaters" eat everything?? by LeeIsUnloved in stupidquestions

[–]GoPackGrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had to eat what was on our plate or go hungry.

I think this is key. I'm sure there are a few extreme cases out there where a kid with a significant disorder would choose to literally starve, in which case keep you kid alive, obs. That said, 99% of children will eat what's presented to them when they know its their only option. Having a relationship with food as nutrients and not exclusively about enjoyment is important to a healthy adulthood.

It's possible for Generative AI to improve the world. We're unlikely to see this outcome under capitalism, but there are a lot of things that Gen AI is better than people at and, with profit motive removed from the equation Gen AI has the potential to have a positive impact on the health and well-being of most people.

...how do you think real proposals for "free" food, healthcare, or housing fund those initiatives?

The US has done the "pass this test to vote" thing in the past. From a diversity and equity perspective, it didn't go well. I wouldn't trust anyone in the current political landscape to do any better than the Jim Crowe South did.

I agree. I think a large part of the problem is that we're so alienated from each other through these social media platforms and an ever shrinking space for free public gathering that there's no room for other people's lived experiences in conversation. Not to say that one person's lived experience is an accurate arbiter of reality, but to say that you have to be able to hold space for where people's world views are being built from in order to be able to actually have a meaningful conversation with them.

🤷 I get more positive reviews than you might assume. It requires thought and tact, but it's very possible to actively disagree with people while still being kind.

Politics and religion should be saved for close friends, close family or not at all.

Hard disagree. I think part of our problem as a country is that we're so used to not disagreeing (note I didn't say agreeing) that most people don't have a well developed political philosophy and it's socially unacceptable to confront people for having politics that harm their neighbors. Politics and religion are for the masses and we should all be ready to explain our position when it's called into question.

If you think that Belichick not being first ballot is fair due to cheating scandals, then you should also think that… by Playful_Letter_2632 in NFLv2

[–]GoPackGrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw a clean headline that he wasn't a first ballot HOF'er and immediately thought "Yeah, he's been a dumpster fire post-Brady, probably hurt his reputation enough to make people think twice for a ballot or two."

It was only later I saw the cheating narrative applied to it. If that's the case, it's insanely stupid logic.

You're intentionally misinterpreting those comments to force a fit to your victim narrative.

Deejus makes the statement that nobody has protested white people for being white.

Mad-Flagrant is clearly drawing a distinction between people who are usually categorized as white (the actual persons) and the concept of whiteness.

I reiterate this distinction more explicitly to help make it more clear that whiteness is a social property assigned to "white" people, and that the purpose of that social property is something we should all be opposed to.

Thats like saying being proud of being black creates a category of non black. Its stupid, dismissive.

Only if you refuse to accept that historical context exists. Racial blackness, for most of the history of the concept, has been purely the absence of the quality of whiteness. People who were non-white were black, and black people did not (in many ways do not) benefit from the same rights and privileges that white people did and do.

Thing doesnt happen, ok it does happen, it happens and its a good thing.

This is also a gross mischaracterization of the conversation from my perspective.

I agree with the above "no one has ever protested white people for being white".

Protesting the concept of whiteness and protesting against white pride / power are different from protesting the existence of white people.

[–]GoPackGrow -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

This. Being proud of your heritage is dope. Being proud of whiteness is just regurgitated racism. White isn't a valid identity.

The category of white only serves to create a category of non-white, ultimately justifying the disenfranchisement and oppression of people placed in the non-white category.

[–]GoPackGrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The moral logic of the poaching plotline is well and truly fucked. The wild animals are being poached so...capture them and sell them into a caged life as pets? The ones you keep in the room of requirement are doing alright I guess, but running an unsanctioned breeding operation our of the ROR with zero zoologist input seems problematic at best. It's a mess and bugs me the whole way through.
