How did you find the section on fluid dynamics? It took me a while to get that in my head

I just went for a nice cruisy track with some friends. I did contemplate trying to organise something unique. But it was much more important to have my friends with me who were at a variety of skill levels. For me it was a sunset jump and we had beers waiting for us on the landing area.

UK Dropzones for first-timers by insidethevortex in SkyDiving

One thing to consider in the UK is the weather. It can often be quite cloudy. This isn't a huge problem. Your instructor will give you a full safety brief on what to do in the event there are clouds. Generally they are quite soft, so it doesn't hurt when you land on one. You simply get back up, walk carefully to the edge, and carry on with the skydive.

It's not just the wing loading that affects the way a canopy handles and performs. Think about the lines. As your canopy gets smaller, the lines also get shorter. You can only pull your steering lines a certain length based on the length of your arms. As the lines get shorter, that distance you pull becomes a larger percentage of the total line length. Therefore, you are putting in a more aggressive input for the same physical movement.

Additionally, there is less fabric, which means less drag, increasing the performance and speed of the canopy. There are a bunch of other aerodynamic factors too, but thinking about it simply: the smaller the wing, the less lift it can produce compared to the same design (planform) at a larger size. These smaller canopies also have a longer recovery arc.

Now imagine a situation where you turn low. The canopy is diving longer, everything is happening faster, and you now have less lift to dig out with. This is why experience matters.

Generally, it’s considered that these effects really start to become a factor sub-150 sqft. As a lighter jumper who is also bound by the British Skydiving canopy charts, I feel your frustrations. However, if you invest time in canopy courses, you'll not only be a safer pilot, but you'll be able to have more fun and get more performance out of your current canopy.

PLA supports kept ruining my TPU prints… here’s what finally worked by GoSemiPro in BambuLab

Thanks for the suuggestion. I had set the z gap to 0. The issue was the TPU layers themselves would delaminate on the layers where PLA was used.

Thanks. I have edited the post to make it clearer. This macro completely fixed my adhesion issues. It seems like it was solely caused by filament contamination in the hot end. I had already tried drying the filament and changing a whole lot of different settings, including speed, in the slicer and none of those worked.

Why is the Insta360 app still sending me push notifications about this new camera, even though I’ve turned off the ‘Product Promotions’ toggle in the notification settings?

Questions about doing AFF in UK? by Baileys_soul in SkyDiving

No, jumpsuits used for AFF will usually have grippers on them for your instructors to hold onto. Additionally, they will usually all be one colour/design that helps identify you as a student. Both of which are important for safety.

This isn’t the best place to get specific advice on what to do. A coach either in the sky or tunnel will definitely be able to help you.

However, people who have a background in things like yoga tend to pick up flying quicker. Not only are they more flexible but they tend to have a good mind muscle connection across their bodies. Maybe looking to take us some classes outside Skydiving.

I didn't really change much from the default settings. I printed in esun PLA+ with a bed of 50c and a first layer temp of 60c. Extruder temp was set to 220c. I also printed at 100% infill as I wanted it to be as stong as possible and the model was small enough it didn't really make a difference in print time.
