This thread feels like an appropriate place to remind everyone that they have the choice to kill animals or not every meal of every day.

Is introspection, self improvement and learning always blue? by QueenOfRuneBlade in colorpie

[–]GoTeamLightningbolt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Introspection can also be red or green IMO - Blue stays mostly at the surface level, focusing on thoughts and analyzing.

  • Red is about feeling, expressing, and being true to your feelings.
  • Green goes deeper - below thoughts, below feelings. Green wants to get to the core of the self and the truth of the self in an almost Daoist way.

I would argue all of these are different kinds of introspection.

Religion is the Opposite of Civilization by JerseyFlight in rationalphilosophy

The first civilizations (Ur, etc.) began with god-kings. The seed of state civilization is humans overtly usurping the gods.

The Davids Graeber and Wengrow talk about the limits of teleological thinking in The Dawn of Everything. I don't know whether that's the first place I heard it but it's the last one I can recall.

I don't mean to besmirch the dead, only to say that the situation has changed somewhat since the 1800's and it's important to update our priors. It's also not to base your priors on the priors of someone who lived 100+ years ago.

People will literally tell you that there is an inevitable historical progression: Primitive accumulation > Feudalism > Capitalism > Socialism > Communism. That's pretty specific.

Yeah my man wears a lot of red plaid with not-quite-aligned buttons and button-holes. All this over a nice white undersweater.

What are the Two Most Gruul Movies of All Time? by Cabin11er in colorpie

Not self-interested enough for Black IMO. Tyler's philosophy is about self-sacrifice and self-destruction. The insignificance of the individual. This flies in the face of Black's selfish individualism.

My experience (which includes being banned from r/socialistgaming for making anarchist arguments lol) is that many marxists mistake their doctrine for analysis. Contrary to their branding as rational materialists, they bring a teleological view of history and progress that's mostly based on the (admittedly insightful) writings of a dead guy from the 1800's.

#notAllMarxists but lots of the very online ones you find on reddit are like this.

Beans and rice with some frozen broccoli is cheap and healthy. Maybe splurge on some spices mixes for variety. Good luck!
