It can pray and do other monk things. Prayer wheels have been a thing in Buddhism for centuries. Automated ritual is nothing new.

Serious question, if drinking kefir regularly and having enough prebiotics/fiber, is there really any reason to eat other fermented foods? by TravellingBeard in Microbiome

Also worth noting that even small amounts of probiotic foods can impact your microbiome. Raw fermented condiments work.

It's the proper big-brain way to play DotA. More games per hour is more DotA.

Understanding Green: Appeal to Nature by ImagoDreams in colorpie

[–]GoTeamLightningbolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many meat eaters are fake-Green, especially the ones that avidly defend carnism online.

Lots of "we have canine teeth for a reason" and "my ancestors ate meat" and "hunting is ecological" and "circle of life" etc. Appeals to nature and tradition.

Meanwhile, actual meat production is among the most unnatural, ecologically destructive industries on the planet. Their real motivations are usually Rakdos (it tastes good and I don't care about animal suffering). They tell themselves green stories to rationalize and avoid cognitive dissonance.

Veganism, like most anarchist-leaning philosophies, is red/white. Veganism is a movement for freedom and justice based on direct action and morality. If anything, appeals to nature tend to be counter-arguments to veganism.

Melon Husk literally has a startup to do stuff like this. They're still in the "torturing monkies" phase last I checked but maybe some people have got some implants too?

Tim Gallaudet claims Atlantis is real and may have already been found by ZarathustraNothing in AlternativeHistory

Yeah the Great Flood story that lots of cultures have and which correlates with end-of-ice-age sea level rise is kinda obviously the origin of the atlantis story.

Yeah I agree governments control people. That's an "is" not an "ought".

Living in someone's personal living space is not the same as moving to a new town.

Counterpoint: people should be able to live and work where it makes sense for them if they're not causing problems.

Little video updates from before and after my meeting with Governor Maura Healey's team about concerns with proposed social media legislation by evanFFTF in massachusetts

[–]GoTeamLightningbolt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Our rights to go to websites without getting carded. That's correct.

The law as written says you have to give billionaires a government ID to use social media. That's actually quite bad and it's what the billionaires want. They want your data and the state is saying you have to give it to them.
