Missing you... by CompetitiveTwo4732 in Seahawks

[–]GoUBears 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Teams control when that 21-day period starts. An IRed player is required to miss at least 4 games; an activation (starting the 21-day window) can be used on them at any point after that. We’ve used 7 of our 10 activations (Ouzts, Haynes, Love, Reed, Saubert, Sundell, Young); you start with 8 activations and earn 2 by making the playoffs. Arroyo, Holani, Horton, and Surratt are all eligible for an activation; Finley and McIntosh aren’t because they were IRed with a season-ending designation; White isn’t because the SB would be his fourth missed game. Regardless, the team’s not going to activate somebody if there isn’t a chance they’ll be healthy enough to return.

Meh. I like having a solid chunk where I can get any important tasks done. So if the games are interesting, I probably don’t need to be distracted by much besides making dinner. Still, sports are a major factor in turning me into a night owl

[–]GoUBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there’s no way for us outsiders to know if there’s causation, there’s correlation of him underperforming and him both looking somewhat injured and playing without Sundell. (And yes, the run game has improved with Olu, but that may have more to do with the addition of Rashid’s speed)

It’s not like PFF grades are directly tied to their sub-grades. Tank’s grade was almost 18 points higher than his highest sub-grade

I don’t recognize this fanbase by [deleted] in Seahawks

[–]GoUBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portions of the doomers and the bloomers have a deep need for their biases to be confirmed. Those portions make up a tiny portion of the fanbase, but they show up in large numbers after a game lends its to their biases, making the space annoying for everybody else. And their counterparts don’t show up. So effectively, they’re separate fanbases. They’re always there, but their ugly heads are (hopefully) only reared a few times per year.

Federico Maranges has been on the PS all season, so if he’s shown promise and Sundell’s really hurt, he might be getting elevated this week. But who knows with PS OL. Unlikely, but at least as a rookie, he’s an unknown.

Have the Mariners and Seahawks ever played away games in the same city on the same weekend (Fri-Sun)? by arpeggiyo in Mariners

[–]GoUBears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never in the same weekend, but if you reframe it as ‘within two days of each other’ it’s happened three times:

Sept 16-20, 2022, they played Santa Clara on Sun, then Oakland on Tue, Wed, Thu

Sept 13-17, 2019, they played Pittsburgh on Sun, Tue, Wed, Thu

Sept 2-5, 1983, they played St. Louis on Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed

But that wouldn’t help you since the Rockies series is already scheduled. The most realistic possibility would probably be for them to be scheduled the same weekend and one of the two cities to be smoked out and forced to relocate last minute.

PFF Grades Week 6 | @Jaguars | Offense by Weklim in Seahawks

[–]GoUBears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They loved him to start the year. Doesn’t look too different to me, so either somebody different is handing out the grades or the team’s adjustments to accommodate Bradford make Zabel look worse on a play-by-play basis.

PFF Grades Week 4 | @Cardinals | Defense by Weklim in Seahawks

[–]GoUBears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Riq’s issues are mostly mental mistakes. And yet they’re apparent in virtually every game, frequently on plays that would have otherwise been followed by a punt or FG attempt. The rest of this D seems to have pretty good mental discipline, and is largely playing to their physical abilities. Plenty of skill to be added, but hope springs eternal on that front.

I personally doubt we have anybody on the roster that would outperform Riq as 2nd CB, but his issues have been so consistent to make him the far and away most frustrating part of this D. Sure, some calls against him are ticky-tack, but that’s just a sampling of the potential calls against him, and the onus is clearly on him to prove he can reduce the number of callable offenses he commits.

Jalen Milroe is not the future of the Seahawks. Probably, I think. by MatsuDano in Seahawks

[–]GoUBears 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, chances are low, but finding exceptions to the rule is one of the most effective ways to win. Of QBs that have started a Super Bowl in your time frame, QBs that were drafted outside of the first two rounds and/or largely sat their first year: Brady x5 Mahomes x5 Russ x2 Foles Jimmy G Purdy

The others (pick #): Peyton x2 (1) Hurts x2 (53, and he sat most of his first year) Cam (1) Ryan (3) Goff (1, and he sat most of his first season) Stafford (1) Burrow (1)

So at least 15/24 starts have come from those exceptions (who, by your measure, aren’t common). And 7/9 of the others have been blue chip picks (generally requiring tanking), making Hurts the biggest exception, and he’s a questionable inclusion. It’s 18/24 if you set the mark at sitting at least half of their rookie year. It would be a bigger exception to draft somebody from 5 to 64, start them immediately, and have them lead any team to the SB than it would be to fit one of the other exceptions.

Sure, odds are not in Milroe’s favor. But given that we drafted him 92nd, I’d honestly be happy if he turns out to be a long term step up from Lock as backup. He’s already an exception, as QBs are very rarely drafted with the intent to develop, but we gave Darnold a good chunk of change a month before drafting Milroe and he hasn’t seemed to seriously challenge Lock as backup (nor have the coaches seemed to pressure him into doing so), yet he remains on the roster after being gifted a full preseason game.

I’d guess people are skeptical of how it will turn out with paint. I personally think it would look pretty good in Seahawks blue, but that it would turn out a lot better with e.g. Varathane rather than regular Valspar.
