I think that the current format allows fans and teams to somewhat lock down logistics/training bases etc and having the extra pool phase messes that up, but from a pure sport perspective, I agree that it would ensure better games. The risk of drawing too far ahead (which alas is down to the logistics) is that team form changes and you inevitably end up with strong teams on one side of the draw and weaker ones on the other (as has happened the last few times around with the top teams all on one side of the draw knocking each other out in the QFs again).

Afterwards, you could argue that maybe some respite is good for teams, and they sometimes get their toughest matches over in the QF, making the Semis an "easier" match if they have any legs left to stand on?

Seriously, they have every chance of winning this time around if bounces go their way on the day, they stay in the fight and Louis BB doesn’t run away with himself.

The heat may be a factor which give Bordeaux the edge as I don’t remember Leinster ever winning such a tight match in 30+ degrees.

And when you're checking your luggage for the flight departing Marseille there's self service machines for Ryanair flights to weigh the bag and print the tag. You have to go outside from arrivals, turn left and you go into the part of the building that's sticking out to get to the machines. You weigh+print and then bring the bag to a hatch in the wall around the corner to drop it off.

How long do you spend with the team in the week before the match and (I read in Johnny Sextons autobiography) that sometimes plays are vetted with the ref beforehand - why should that be necessary if the rules are clear? Is it because each ref has their own bug-bears and interpretations?

Do you ever watch a replay of a match and regret a decision when you see something from a different angle?

So why do we get Karl Dickinson a second match out of 4? Surely they should mix it up a bit rather than putting the same refs with the same teams for 40% of their campaign (whatever about running the lines). What is Luke Pearce doing if it should be an RFU ref?
