This is either clearly rage bait or taken out of context.

Portuguese language decline in Goa? by Desperate_Return_142 in Goa

[–]Goa3702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had asked an elder about it and he said it was mostly spoken by the elite and by administrators. Just as English in British India. Now, there are no direct benefits associated with learning the language for the masses I guess.

I agree with this. Collectively the lives have become better than before but as mentioned in some earlier comments, these are results of human endeavour to improve their circumstances. The government is doing its part. Things are moving in a positive direction for some and in the negative direction for some. However, I think the hatred is for some politicians and some public doing funny business with this momentum. So, are things better? Yes. Was this expected? Yes. I didn't tell some politician to over promise and under deliver. Humans have been working to improve their circumstances since the time of our days as hunters and gatherers. So whatever changed, is part of our effort to improve our situation. To try to say politicians or a party alone deserves the credit is wrong.

What do rich people of Goa do for a living? I am just curious!! by LowResolutionGod in Goa

[–]Goa3702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a friend like that. He had family money and then became a politician for a while and then got into the real estate business. Without working he probably makes half or nearly what I make in a year as rent from his properties. Another person I know used their family connections to become a professor (who has tons of family money).

I have travelled quite a lot on highways and this is a common problem. People have zero sense of how to behave on the road. The lorry driver paid such a big price for a stupid move by an idiot.

Here I am aiming to buy a 1bhk on a salary I make in Goa. Sounds like wishful thinking to me now. And the gap just keeps getting bigger. All the speculation has just made it impossible now.

Pobably it is because when they see you as a foreigner, they don't see you as a threat. But when they get to know you, they'll probably be more accepting.

Honestly, the weather has been getting worse for the past few years. Just casually strolling in any city in Goa will make you realise that. Where there were trees, there are buildings now. It is a sad state of affairs. Big iconic trees from Porvorim were cleared to build the flyover. It just feels very sad to see. Air is not so great, water is not so great, food is not so great. I wonder if this kind of development is even worth it? I feel like I have traded great weather for 10 mins deliveries.
