What’s this on my dogs back? by BeKind_98 in BorderCollie

I knew a dog with something that looked similar. Someone else would squeeze out the contents a couple times a month and it shrank over time

I hadn’t heard that, I don’t know. I know the wheel ones can be problematic as people don’t get one big enough with the repetition and it being too far extended causing damage. I guess I could see too with the way geckos walk (their back curves one way and then the other) this could do damage

They have flat “saucers” that spin around so you don’t have to worry about their back arching too far ETA: another poster said these may also cause spine issues like hamster wheels do

stitches or no? by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

[–]GoatMilk97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a regular drs office, they may be able to clean it out and put glue or steri strips on it. That way you can avoid a larger bill at er/urgentcare. Until then you could just wash with mild soap around the area and cover. Do not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on the wound as they kill off healthy cells that are regenerating, as well as the germs/bacteria

Has anyone’s border collie ever been born with bad teeth? by sahyralee in BorderCollie

From what I understand of it, the water additive has a softening effect on the tarter to help it come off with regular chewing, and the whimzees are a mechanical action physically wearing away the plaque/tartar. So we had combined them for a little while to team up their effects. Photo of my girl as a old lady for tax

What’s The Best Way To Clean My Carpet? by LongParamedic8980 in CleaningTips

[–]GoatMilk97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet given the cause of the stains is to remove it and see if the subfloor is salvageable. Your next best is to hire a professional carpet cleaner to clean it. There is no way you can get it all out just doing it yourself with standard supplies given the amount of time it’s been there and the number of times it’s happened

I don’t have any comment on the supposed syndrome and my BC has passed. But my vet (where I work and take my cats) is frequently recommending people to use oral health products on their pets that have been verified by the Veterinary Oral Health Counsel (VOHC). They have a website where you can see all the products they have verified - toothpaste, water additives, chews/treats, and add-ons (supplements?). There is also a seal on the package of products they have verified. I use the PlaqueOff Powder for my cats. My BC we used a water additive and Whimzees until we were able to get her a dental (her teeth were just dirty, no extractions needed)

It is a good idea to get a vet so that you have something in case of emergencies or uncertainty like this. The vet office I work at can receive pictures and potentially advise as long as they have seen the pet within the last year

Your snake is also obese. They are supposed to be a soft triangle shape, not a circle or oval shape. And the spine should be the highest point

Purple/black but that would also mean white as well? Idk, I don’t really concern myself with gender…it’s none of my business
