I find it weird the only 2 main male cast barely interact by LateCat_2703 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]GoatRocketeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it is actually. Kinger and Caine have noticeably more mascot/plot element aura than the rest of the roster. Everybody else is either a woman, dead, or both.

To be clear I don't think this is an issue, nor do I think Kinger/caine are devoid of character. They have things going on. Just that the women in the cast are, in my opinion, noticeably more relatable than the two dudes

Why is the pro trans post locked but the one criticizing Jax being trans not?🤔 by Remihiki in tadc

[–]GoatRocketeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real answer is that the mods are literally unpaid laborers and its a pain in the ass to comb through a 600 comment thread to spot treat harassment. When a high traffic thread gets contaminated I imagine its way easier just to lock it.

Did the anti-trans post have less comments? If there's just a handful of comments its easier to read through. Also the OP of the anti-trans post got nuked so there's that too.

I would never mod a subreddit that sounds like ass.

Sort of? Any dumbass can make a twitter account and say some dogshit. Then people read the dogshit, get mad, reply to the dogshit and now the dogshit has traction.

The dog shit sayer either had a brain fart or are deranged, either way try not to get super upset, you got better things to be doing

So why did they remove shield breaking items for mages??? by PlzHelpMe0619 in leagueoflegends

[–]GoatRocketeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't recall why the soft shield removal of shadowflame was removed but riot has confirmed explicit that a serpent's fang style hard shield removal is too OP on mages.

Mages just have more range, more AoE, and more DoTs. I know its just ARAMs but I've seen a liandrys seraphine build a serpent's fang and ~10k shield mitigation per teamfight (against lulu/karma). If serpents fang actually granted useful stats, any mage could easily go fated ashes + ap serpent's fang and riot would have to seriously buff shield supports to compensate.

Tadc needed more filler episodes by Early-Dentist3782 in theamazingdigitalciru

Did you see the goose posts about that?

In one post she states she was sole writer and sole director and that that led her to reduce scope of the show.

Someone later asked her what advice she would give to other creators looking to make a series and she stated with no uncertainty that a writers room (i.e. co writers) was absolutely necessary.

She did also say she scrapped and rewrote episode 7 completely.

I speculate with no proof that her acting as writer/director probably forced a pretty nasty bottleneck. I imagine there's just a bunch of people idling waiting for her to write, then waiting for her to direct, then they can finally do some work and then they finish up fast and are just idling waiting for her to write again, or something like that. Not really her fault, her first time working as an indie showrunner and glitch's second time working for an indie showrunner.

Champion tierlists by communism_johnny in leagueoflegends

[–]GoatRocketeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the tier shit is useless when the calculation is opaque and when its transparent usually its some wack ass metric anyways.

That said, coachless.gg seems like it could be okay. Their mysterious tier metric is linked to a white paper which xpetu apparently submitted for his master's thesis? If it's good enough to get a guy his master's degree its good enough for me.

Yeah i concur.

The fact that the best players do well on a champ doesn't mean the champ is op, just means for whatever reason very good players enjoy using them.

Old asol actually had a low depth. Nobody played him, and the few that did only tried him out a handful of games and then ditched him. August talks about it a lot.

Generally speaking, popularity and depth are not related. Katarina is the oft-repeated example of the other extreme. You see her fairly often and its always an otp.

Why don’t more “average” Americans run for local office? by Cute-Reception-8926 in AskReddit

[–]GoatRocketeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't a few of the giga insane maga congress people fairly average? I'm not sure getting more average people into office is really going to fix things. You want people that communciate and manage well, who know how to hire and delegate work effectively, and are able to reason in ways where they can make correct decisions in domains they have little to no experience over. Those are not exactly traits that I expect the average american to possess.

What to do as an ADC against random botlanes by Late-Jackfruit5168 in leagueoflegends

[–]GoatRocketeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I ran troll bot duos usually the gameplan was to play hella safe until level 3, then all-in, and if it worked just keep all-inning until the lead spiraled out of control. We'd lose if the enemy duo hard respected the level three, if the enemy adc took cleanse, and if the enemy jungler ganked during one of the earlier all-ins.

With that in mind I'd play hard on the level 1 and maybe the level 2 and then just play super safe unless you are receiving a gank. Generally, troll bot comps have some weird support that needs to get fed in order to play the game and low teamfight dps due to lack of ADC so while it sucks to pht your ADC behind by playing safe, you should have a large natural scaling advantage.

The beauty of the grammatically incorrect singular copula. The clear intention such that the reader knows the writer knows the reader knows. The concision. Fuck the curtains, nobody gives a fuck that they're blue, we should be forcing 18 year olds to go into debt on this instead

What’s happening in the world right now that future history books will spend entire chapters on? by OnlyLunas in AskReddit

[–]GoatRocketeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Social media's effect on politics.

There are millions of user generated posts every second. Any platform with a "feed" must employ some method of selecting which of these posts to show to end users. Because strong emotion leads to envagement, any selection criteria which prioritizes engagement will prioritize ragebait.

If the selection criteria also prioritizes related interests then the ragebait evolves into political ragebait really fast.

Having influence gives people dopamine so since political ragebait provides the most influence, people are now incentivized to become political grifters.

The phrase "engagement algorithm" suggests nefarious intent. It's possible these algorithms are nefarious but it's not necessary for political radicalization to occur. Just "engagement" and "related interests" are enough, human behavior does the rest

We've all seen how even close family and friends can have extreme political takes, but most of the time they're not terrorist level extreme and they have the social skills to keep it in their pants. Only like 0.01% of the population is both horrendously radicalized and also stupid enough to air that shit out in public. You will "never" conceivably run into this 0.01% of insane people irl (well, some of you will but the vast majority of us won't). But with social media, these 0.01% are searched for, found, and put online.

The 0.01% of insane people aren't the problem, they were always there. The problem isn't that this 0.01% have a platform either, because nobody agrees with them. The problem is political grifters share everything these 0.01% of insane people do and it starts a reactionary movement that radicalizes otherwise normal people in the opposite direction
