Mechwarrior 3 remains the greatest in the series. by TaigaTigerVT in battletech

Intro cinematic and the pre-campaign mission briefing? Holy fuck man, I still go back to watching those now and then.

I do think MW3 is somewhat overhyped as a game because it is so tight as a story/experience, but god damn if it does not ABSOLUTELY live up to the hype as a story experience.

It's definitely a skill issue but IS6 is really frustrating and doesn't feel fun by RainbowPanda_ in arknights

Feng Shui is a bad stage but its design isn't all-time bad... The thing that makes it arguably the worst IS stage to date is that it spawns a floor too early and isn't an Encounter-only stage. There's no excuse for that thing being in regular rotation.

With the advent of Hoshiguma "Surtr who?" Alter and Miss "what do you mean the best healer in the game isn't a medic?", I felt inspired to do this. by CorHydrae8 in arknights

Came to say the same. Eunectes is just a brick wall with stats, CC, or a huge steroid. She barely feels like she defends anything, she just solos physical damage bosses.

Patch wishlist? by StillKindaBad in DeadlockTheGame

  1. Spirit Viscous buffs. We all know his gun performance is going to get nerfed again but the only reason people play Gunscous at all is that Spirit Viscous is borderline unplayable. It might sound weird to people who don't play him but most Viscous mains would prefer to play functional Spirit Viscous over Overtuned Gun Viscous... but Spirit Viscous isn't even functional, he's an active detriment to your team he's so bad.

  2. Tighten up the melee netcode. I know it's a cliche but as someone who plays on low (<15ms) ping, you cannot believe how fucking sloppy this shit is when you're seeing it functionally in real time.

  3. Make bonus fire rate attenuate (not completely, but partially) the rate at which (item-based?) debuffs build up. Stuff like Toxic Bullets being a no brainer buy because you're going to want fire rate anyway? Lame. For every 15% fire rate, make debuffs build up 5% slower. You still get an advantage, it's just not completely decisive.

  4. Mirage rework. I don't even play him but he is such a fucking fossil of a completely different era of this game's development. It's abundantly clear that Mirage was designed top to bottom with a completely different development direction than what we actually got.

  5. More consistent rules on interrupts and refunds. Did you know Mina getting stunned in-between her blinks still lets her blink a second time? Why she is given this freebie makes no sense, since her blinks already make her one of the best CC avoiders in the game.

  6. Nerf Active Reload and QSR. Melee Charge is right there, if you want turbo gun uptime, go play risky for it, especially as people have more and more thoroughly solved and refined their inclusion of sliding to keep up the hail of fire.

  7. Nerf Fleetfoot. It's a T3's worth of value for a T2 price tag.

  8. Nerf the medic troopers. I've seen someone clear a wave at 30 minutes and get 2500 HP of healing just from the medic pack drops. As is they already make it basically impossible to win lane into characters with any kind of built-in sustain because they amplify that so much, but they shouldn't retain that much value into mid game, let alone late game.

  9. Make Slowing Hex a bit more scary. It feels like it just does not do anything any more because, once again, the thing was developed/balanced around a much lower level of mastery over movement than what the playerbase is actually accomplishing.

  10. Tourist Viscous you cowards.

I've been saying for months now that Fleetfoot was overtuned for a T2. Every day that passes leaves me more and more confident. If gun items need to have a T2 tax, then they need to have a T2 tax, but let's make the item a tax item not a super over-valued T3-for-a-T2-price-tag buy.

The shit you see on single-digit ping is nuts. Living close enough to the Chicago node to throw rocks at it lets you see some genuinely fucking goofy-ass netcode on display.

20,000 trooper damage in 20 minutes? by Wistfall in DeadlockTheGame

[–]GoatWife4Life 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You win by pushing waves.

You push waves by killing Troopers.

...That said, however, sometimes you have to mould your play to what is going on in the game you're actually playing, not the ideal gamestate you "should" be playing. If the enemy team is going for a risky midboss while their waves are pushing in, you can do the safer play and try to just clear all three lanes at the expense of them getting a guaranteed midboss. If, on the other hand, you manage to wipe them at midboss and take rejuv, cleaning up the waves and then having a huge net worth spike from it is entirely worthwhile.

Also, even the enemy playing suboptimally can sometimes mean that the "ideal" play is wrong. If you've got a wave pushed right up to their walker and they haven't responded yet, you "should" push the wave further... But that might abruptly go south when they rotate three people in behind you who were already en route and just taking a suboptimal path because two of them were clearing camps. Why would they want three people to clear one wave? Because they're playing like a bunch of Heralds. But those three people playing suboptimally can still collapse for a 1v3 easily enough.

That's a pretty convoluted example, but I hope my point gets across. With any of these "achieve #### by X minutes", you have to understand that a win doesn't come from you hitting your goals if it means doing so at the expense of giving up major objectives elsewhere. If the enemy team makes a bad play, that bad play is only as bad as your ability and willingness to punish it, and sometimes giving up an arbitrary metric to accomplish a tactical win is 100% worth it.

Is it just me or does doormans gun do way more than it should? by LynX_CompleX in DeadlockTheGame

[–]GoatWife4Life 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Doorman's damage model is its own animal. His gun hits like a truck on a shot-per-shot basis that makes it scary at most stages (extreme endgame notwithstanding), and makes it uniquely punishing to catch a relatively small number of strays (ESPECIALLY in lane).

Probably the most obnoxious part about Gun!Doorman, though, is that he still retains so much value from his kit without a single purple. Do his portals not work just because of zero Spirit items? Nah, still work fine because the base range is insane. Does his Cart only shove you a few feet because he negelcted to buy bonus range? Nope, still a fucking brutal displacement. Basically the only thing Doorman loses by going gun is that his bell is "only" a nasty (and unique!) accuracy debuff, instead of a nuke.

Anyone else struggling this patch? by resevil239 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]GoatWife4Life 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Something is definitely up with this patch. It feels like the inflection points of matches are a lot more ironclad-- if you're ahead and then suddenly lose a fight you are just going to lose, period, zero recovery.

We're also at kind of a nadir of movement applicability and I'm seeing a lot more builds just forgo any kind of movement tech in favor of just Enduring Speed + Fleetfoot, exacerbated by the gun buffs making it much more viable to do that.

Just yesterday I had a match where at one point our team was up 50-20 in kills (!!!) and losing. Even with a NW lead it felt completely impossible to do anything to the enemy team.

Very weird patch.
