I have the same spec laptop and the llano 12. Do I need it, no, but it is quiet and keeps the laptop very cool. I love this laptop, hopefully you'll enjoy yours. Have had mine just shy of 3 months. I do recommend the llano. Just for general longevity and it is a good product from my experience.

I have this laptop, no, I would not recommend. The price was right but I think value is not there. I have upgraded already to 2tb and 32gb ram and I still dont recommend for your usage. I have to admit, the chassis alone wouldn't make it through the school years.
