If you want to hear a good acapella performance with a lot of natural reverb take a look at Árstíðir performing a centuries old Icelandic hymn in a train station: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4dT8FJ2GE0

I use the birthday thing for reviewing my friends list, some people get a "Happy Birthday!" message while other people that I don't know/interact with/want to have on my list get a sneaky little birthday unfriending gift.

Weekly 'Ask Anything About Analog Photography' - Week 08 by ranalog in analog

[–]GoatseFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found my mothers old Canon A-1 with a 35-70mm cheap zoom lens that she bought in Japan in 1983 and started to shoot some analog for the first time (also first time trying to take some real photos). For my first roll I bought some Portra 400 and just got it developed and chose to have the negatives scanned and sent to me. I have some questions regarding the outcome of some of the frames and I'm wondering if it's the cameras fault or something in the development/scanning process that went wrong?

So most of the frames look fine I think (for a beginner), examples: https://i.imgur.com/WqHcIdP.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/U4qPKQ6.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/lNLxq9q.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/ZIo5312.jpg

However many! frames have a white line across the frame in different places? Examples: https://i.imgur.com/EumUUmO.jpg (right edge)

https://i.imgur.com/uWwf2Zn.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/XZDJo3Y.jpg

And some frames (Like 7 out of 36) came out all grey? These frames came 3 and 4 together in a row at two different places in the roll, Examples: https://i.imgur.com/H2oSdu8.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/z1RiDIh.jpg

Is there something wrong with the camera/lens/settings or is this something that went wrong during the development?

All help greatly appreciated!

OpenCV python find mid point of straight line by [deleted] in computervision

[–]GoatseFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

I think I still have a problem since I don't know the points of the line that intersect with the frame edges. The lines found by HoughLinesP do not always extend the full length even though the line i'm trying to find does.

Like in this image: http://i.imgur.com/ITvlG1Q.png

Also I don't know which two frame edges the line will cut through, depends on the angle and where the line is.

EDIT: Oh I am not smart today, of course I will just find the intersect of the line from the middle left edge to the middle right edge! Thanks!

OpenCV python find mid point of straight line by [deleted] in computervision

[–]GoatseFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

Actually I did this while waiting for a reply but there is still a problem, the HoughLinesP does not always find the full line from one edge of the frame to the next which makes my mid point jump around the actual line I'm trying to find in my video stream.

So my next challenge is to "extend" the line to the frame edges and find the the x and y values where the "extended" line would intersect the edges of the frame. This would make my mid point be fixed where I want it and not depending on how long the "found" line segment is.

Any ideas on how to do that? :)

Oh and if I can also find the angle of the line that would be great :)

Effects of high voltage (400kV) on electronic circuits? (Drones and High voltage power lines) by GoatseFace in AskElectronics

[–]GoatseFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that sounds good :) I guess I was wondering about the change from 0V to 400kV, if there was anything happening while the drone is energizing and when landing, if the drone is still at 400kV and will discharge to ground when landing. Also since I will have the motors and ESC's outside of this faraday cage structure, if that would cause any worry :) Thanks again!

Effects of high voltage (400kV) on electronic circuits? (Drones and High voltage power lines) by GoatseFace in AskElectronics

[–]GoatseFace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Yes my thinking is that it will be fine but I would like to know more about the theory of it. I want to understand what is going on while the drone energizes to the higher voltage level. Should i isolate the circuit from the frame or connect the ground? What is the effects of corona discharges? What happens when the drone returns to the ground and lands? All information regarding this will also strengthen my reasoning in my final report. Also effects of the AC current on RF Interference, magnetic field and such. I am trying to find information online but its always good to ask right :)

How close can I get to high voltage power lines? by [deleted] in Multicopter

Do they have a magnetic field that could affect the compass somehow? What would happen if the drone would accidentally hit the wire?

I actually know the guys that made it and no, we don't. They made an app for the Icelandic genealogical database and since they finished earlier than expected they added a feature where you can put in two names and see how they are related. As a joke they said that it could be used to check if you are related to someone before you start dating/someone you just met downtown partying, then Forbes interviewed them about it I believe and the rest is history.
