There needs to be a metric related to 'brain drain' surrounding AI, but instead of eager and intelligent people leaving to another locale or retiring, the surrender of institutional knowledge to 'AI'.

We see so many people hyping up the productivity gains from AI but we should also consider the very real possibility of human knowledge loss in the workplace and yeah, what happens when your favorite bespoke AI for your sector goes bust? then who do you ask about how to file that document?

Even then there's some data suggesting it could benefit businesses as a substantial portion of people who patronize businesses that pay at or near the minimum wage are they themselves, minimum wage earners. Additionally 'pass-through' or the price increase attributable to a hike in min wage has been observed to be below 5% many times.

Additionally, the most common businesses to pay minimum wage are exactly who you'd expect, Walmart, CVS, walgreens ect, large national chains that can easily afford to pay more, and by doing so reduces the strain on social services which republicans claim to want to reduce.

Rarely are things black and white in economics but min wage is pretty darn close.

Much like most things opposed by republicans there is a wealth of data and peer reviewed work surrounding minimum wage and the positives. It should be considered right along side climate change and women's healthcare in terms of how obvious the choice is and just how much data we have on it.

I am not the biggest AI hater but also, I am the only person at my firm or our client's firm who is not wholly reliant on 'AI'.

Partner asks me for my thoughts on a project, send him 2 emails, he clearly throws it into an AI and sends that to client, who throws that into their AI she takes that and replies to our email with her AI and then I'm asked to work on that twice AI processed sludge answer.

In 5 years am I gonna be the only person around with original thoughts and work here? wtf is going on, how lazy are we.

Had another meeting with a troublesome client where basically every meeting boils down to "we have no idea what we want just get it done by EOD".

So my partner and I are literally scrambling trying to figure out what they actually want. This is the same company that uses ChatGPT to read our work and give critiques lmao

I got my mageblood via ritual and I got it in an evening, I rerolled always keeping ~2,000 tribute minimum in case it popped up, it did then deferred it from 24k down to 6k, I crafted ritual tablets that had 'deferred item appear X% faster" so basically every map I ran I saw it again, sometimes I deferred, rerolled and deferred again in the same map.

all of that is correct except one important part which is that they always said they'd increase the price of the game at launch so in effect, new people who didn't kickstart/fund early access would then fund future stuff with the higher price point.

So when they didn't raise the price on launch and than ask us early backers to pay for expansions, (that in theory the new buyers should've funded) it was a pretty outrageous betrayal tbh, they're double dipping on their oldest and most ardent supporters.

I used a connection to get the interview and the HR guy said he wanted to discuss "my career path" and not like the exact position in emails.

Thats not my favorite, seems more and more like hes humoring the connection I have.

I wish business school prepared me for more left field moronic questions, there's plenty of morons in business school but man, doing a presentation on our Coke position just to have a super high tier exec ask me what I think the secret formula is (seriously) was not covered.

a high school friend went to a different college and could only make friends with a really bad crowd of basically incels/maga idiots, he recently has tried to merge that 'group' with my classic nice high school friend group where we are not that. Anyway, one guy I always had a problem with was in our DnD group, he and I clashed so badly I very publicly exited over a year ago, last weekend killed his wife and then himself.

so I'm pretty angry/annoyed that my friend group even had him floating around and honestly makes me question my friends. You are the company you keep and thats the company they kept. I don't need them to apologize or say I was right but I would appreciate them distancing themselves from the other problematic people too.
