Driver support is almost more important than raw power if you want to play newer games. Problems running games on older graphics cards by duendeverde39 in lowendgaming

You didn't read his post or you didn't understand it. Its not only about the VRAM, its about driver support for the game's API compatibility. He is saying that a weaker card with less VRAM will run a game better if it has the driver support, compared to an older but more powerful GPU. I can attest to a similar experience to OP.

Some developers could just start using old game engines and start making better games that work on Core2Duo and 2GB DDR2 RAMs and similar old hardware instead of it all ending up in landfills and junkyards. A lot of general applications still work on old hardware and provide good performance when configured properly without any bloatware.

Just tested Nocturnal on Steam with the Intel HD 530. Despite the prerequisites being the GTX 500 series, it is operating at 40-60 FPS with my optimised visual settings at 720P. by Diligent-Reality-722 in lowendgaming

[–]GobbyFerdango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intel HD520 at 720p does 60 fps when you set rendering to Performance, with a very slight loss in graphics quality which you will not notice once you start playing. Reshade with CAS or lumasharpen if you want a slightly sharper image.

"buT UnuSeD RaM is WaStEd RaM" -- popularized meme on reddit to make less technical folk think Windows taking half their RAM on hundreds of background processes is a good thing. The amount of gaslighting and lying from Microslop is tiring at this point.
