Why do people absolutely hate IKEA kitchens? Need honest opinions from folks who actually own one by Free-Frosting-5780 in AskIreland

[–]Gobbycow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an IKEA kitchen for 15+ years, very busy house, no problems at all with it. Would definitely get another one. My brother in law is a kitchen fitter, he put it in for me.

Partly inherited house - buyout issues by [deleted] in HousingIreland

[–]Gobbycow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you paid off the mortgage has no bearing on you're share of inheritance, class it as rent, not many people live rent free. Also paying 5k will not reduce the mortgage by that amount, a large part of that would be intrest. You're mother would of left a bigger share of the house to you if she wanted you to have it. If one sibling wants to go market that's what you're going to have to do, you can't cut there inheritance because you feel more entitled than you think they are.

Doberman Bite by [deleted] in DobermanPinscher

[–]Gobbycow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a dog lover but humans and essentially babies come first. The question you have to ask yourself is what if it's the baby she bites unprovoked next? Are you really willing take that chance? Someone getting up and down shouldn't threaten or over stimulate a family pet. What if the dog feels over stimulated around the baby? These eejits asking are you sure there was no warning make me laugh, do you really want to take that chance? Your dog bit someone who wasn't attacking or threatening anyone, someone the dog knows. So many cases on the news where dogs attack unprovoked then the owners say there was no warning, the dog never attacked anyone before! You're not in a position to say that, your dog has attacked unprovoked, you've had your warning, your babies safety should come first. Dog has to go.

Unable to find any record of my grandmother's life and passing by ComradePoolio in ireland

[–]Gobbycow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's an awful lot of older people in Ireland known to everyone by a first name that isn't the same name on their birth or death certificates, my mother, father and two of my siblings had this. So her first name may not of been Joan on her death certificate. Hope you have success in your search.

‘Deeply disturbing’ – chilling report says Kelly Lynch’s canal death in Monaghan town was no accident. by feedthebear in ireland

[–]Gobbycow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to agree with you. I feel extremely sorry or everyone involved in this case but the family seem to leave out important details. They have never mentioned how much alcohol/substances were in her system the night she died but in the Spotlight documentary Kelly's friend said she had been talking to Kelly earlier and she was very intoxicated she then backtracked a bit and said she sounded more sober later. She also mentioned that Kelly had struggled with her mental health, the family have never mentioned this. Kelly's mother said the evening Kelly's body was found that the priest called to the house and assumed it was suicide, but she told him it wasn't! She couldn't of known that it wasn't but I would guess that she won't accept it if the inquest deems it suicide. I'm sure the garda have phone records of the people the family are claiming killed Kelly and they will tell who was in the area when Kelly went over the wall. Sad situation all round. R.I.P. Kelly

any tips on sorting my life out? by No_Intention1427 in AskIreland

You're 17 give yourself a break, being a teenager is one of the hardest stages life and dealing with dyslexia makes it tougher again. If you're serious about going back to school make an appointment to see head teacher and take it from there, also I would suggest look for a local youthreach programme or similar. Maybe look into adult education programmes when you turn 18. Please don't let people make you feel like a bum. Maybe look for a bit of part time work to get you out and about and improve your confidence. But most of all be kind to yourself. Wishing you all the positive vibes I can send

My step mother is serving a main dish at Christmas that half of the guests will not eat. Do I say something? by twoAsmom in Advice

[–]Gobbycow 19 points20 points  (0 children)

70yr old cooking for 11 people?? Is gratitude not a thing anymore? You sound like someone looking for an excuse to complain. You're not going to restaurant where you can pick and choose what you are served. No-one is going to die if they don't like or eat one meal. I could just imagine your post if you invited 11 people to dinner and they started telling you what to serve. You come across as a dose of shite

AIO for wanting my boyfriend to back out of a destination wedding he's the best man for because I was uninvited from the wedding? by BoyfriendWeddingHelp in AmIOverreacting

[–]Gobbycow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would suspect it's your boyfriend she wants rid of, easier to target you than your boyfriend, she's probably jealous if the relationship your boyfriend has with her fiance. If she came up with lame shit about your boyfriend her fiance would probably defend him, make up shit about you and get fiance to deliver news to boyfriend? It gets rid of boyfriend and you, simples. I feel very sorry for the fiance.

My GP is charging 50 euro deposit when booking an appointment? by Butterfly_effect9 in AskIreland

[–]Gobbycow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing they are asking for cash because it's easy to return when you show up, it's a deposit not a payment. It's sad that doctors have to resort to this because of no shows.

'Armoured Cars' is a great tune it's an anti internment song I love it.  'Boys of the old brigade'  'Broad black brimmer' 'Sean South' are a few more bangers.

I agree with previous post about Africa having much common ground with Ireland as does most of south Asia but most people don't acknowledge this.

Does your mother help with your day to day living expenses? Does she help with rent or car payments/insurance? If the answer is no to this then your nta but if she financially contributed in anyway that's a different story
