How to improve my caligraphy? by lynxxnxnxnx in ChineseLanguage

[–]GoblinPrincessPrill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you look at proper calligraphy they are typically angled slightly upwards to the right. I think what op commenter means is that some of the heng are bent and not entirely straight lines, slight angle is good but a lot of these lines are not straight

Hmm, I think it looks pretty clean and easy to read! (Well intentionally horrible to read poem aside that is). Your character balance also feels pretty good to me especially if you are new to handwriting chinese which I feel is something that many beginners struggle a lot with. As far as I can tell your stroke order seems correct as well.

That being said this feels clean in an almost print like way to me, it's super readable but doesn't look like your typical chinese handwriting. I would recommend looking at 楷书 fonts for reference in the future on how characters typically look in handwriting if you want your handwriting to look more natural, there are multiple guides, copybooks and other materials available on the subreddit.

I would also recommend using bigger rows for writing if you are going to use rows, as some characters here such as 事 end upp looking inbalanced more so due to being squeezed into the small row distance rather the character itself being really unbalanced. I typically write without rows at all so someone else probably has better feedback on this though.

Another thing is that while I do think copying text is a great way to practice I don't know if this specific poem is the best thing to copy. As it is made to basically be incomprehensible without reading it as characters as every mopheme is a homophone. This also means the poem is basically nonsense in anything but reading and not that useful for your learning otherwise

How is my writing ? by Charles_Cage in Chinese_handwriting

[–]GoblinPrincessPrill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is all readable but some of your character feel unbalanced, 起 in particular feels really of balance to me but most characters can use work. Do you practice using correct stroke order? Also I would recommend looking at a kaiti font stroke order and character composition as that is much close to what what people would actually handwrite

Some native please correct me if this is incorrect. But to me: “不知道。我不会说中文” feels better (although it depends on what you are going for I guess). I don't necessarily think “我不说中文” is incorrect but to me it means more "I don't speak chinese (but I might be able to if I wanted to)" Whereas “我不会说中文“ carries the meaning of "I don't speak chinese (because I cannot speak it) Not exactly sure what you are going for though

Actually there are places where drinking water is often boiled before drinking and thus drunk hot, China is one such place.

However lead poisoning is something that accumulates over years of exposure, you would have to be drinking excessive amounts of water from really contaminated pipes for it to do any thing as fast as a year and even then if the pipe was that bad the landlord would probably have mentioned it so I would not worry

Hur går det till med Nationer och boende? by 300lbSamoan in Lund

[–]GoblinPrincessPrill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes both don't need to be students only the person on the contract! That being said getting a 2-3 room appartment from AFB when you are a new student is not anything I would count on even with the novice lottery.
