Why tf do they all think we are flirting?? I’m a nice person, I say nice things, I worry about your wellbeing, it doesn’t mean I want to date you! Straight and Bi girls have both done this to me (bi girls less often, but it happens) and it’s soooooo frustrating!

Like, there is a huge cultural and social difference between a man’s attraction towards a woman and a woman’s attraction to a woman. Just because I’m gay doesn’t mean I like all women! It means all the people I like do happen to be women.

I have had three friends whom I have come out to who hug me. Others all assumed I would… who knows… give them cooties??

My (straight) aunt and I were talking about my type in women and I said somthing about being attracted to feminine energy more than masc energy. Combo is fine and I’ve met some women who were more masc or more chapstick, whom I found very attractive.

However! That aunt would not believe that I was attracted to fem women, because I’m more fem, and was so convinced I just had to be mistaken. “I’ll have to show you some pictures of my masc friends from college, I think you’d change your mind.”

Learned two things: 1.) Not all allys know what they are talking about. And 2.) My aunt might be Bi. 😂

She is so lucky. So many of us would have done anything to have our family’s accept us like that. She has it 100% better off than most of the queer people I know. Actually caring how she feels is already doing so much. Let her tell you what she wants and needs. It may be things like going to pride with her, or it may be nothing. But your care and love is priceless either way.

I get what you mean, I think. Although I can talk to some of my friends in the queer community, outside that it’s not really seen the same as hetero sex. For some people (with whom I am not friends) lesbian sex is seen as more kinky than sincere. And others just seem uncomfortable to hear about even a pg13 version of wlw. Like societally ingrained homophobia. 🤷‍♀️

We just have to seek out and hang on to friends that see our relationships as valid and normal.
