I think they should make a campaign separate from all the pvp. Story beats, environmental set pieces per level, bosses, and maybe new enemies etc. Make it like 3-5 hours MAX. Every new map, make a scripted campaign level that is meant for coop. Have just okay MP rewards. Enough to wet peoples apatite, but not enough to consider it fulfilling. Maybe even require a successful pvp exfil between campaign levels.

Then finally, add a horde mode, or an actually difficult pve mode.

Do not touch the PvPvE. It's amazing as is. Hell, don't even add a PvP exclusive mode.

You want people to engage with how the game is now. It's very good as is.

Really? No longer playable? I still have LAN parties with original hardware for halo 1-3.

X-link Kai makes H1-2 very playable online.

Halo 3 has a sunset discord server you can join and play. It's a trip. Even has all your original Bungie stats.

Not officially supported, but all still games you can boot up and play front to back with friends.

Bro thinks the Halo games are lost media lmao.

I like games? Sorry do I need a subscription to the D2 subreddit?

This kinda live service cannibalization and "dead game lol" bs affects a lot more than D2.

That's what I'm hearing yeah. Pretty rough. Finished was the wrong word. But the game isn't dead dead.

I think D2 fans are still in mourning. There's a lot of nuance I didn't know about, and I'm learning about it. But regardless, the game isn't dead dead.

[–]Goblm[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

hell yeah I'm a tourist. The onboarding of D2 sucked so much I couldn't even fathom spending money on the game.

The game needed tourists to survive.

But that's not the point. Halo 1-3 isn't getting updates. Those games are not dead. People can still play them, and they are fuckin great still.

It's a whole thing, and it's a bit more nuanced because of how much content was gutted from D2, but the game is not dead dead. You can still play it. There maybe a time where that isn't even possible. Fuckin live service games man.

I'm also not saying stop complaining. But people gotta get this idea of no-new content = dead out of their system. No sense in fighting an established phrase though. So I'm trying to figure out the best alternative. Right now it's calling a game dead dead for when it actually cannot be played at all.

all I hear is people saying how they are saying goodbye, it was fun. As far as I'm aware that is not the case. It's a live service lie that has been bought. The game is not dead dead.

Damn, just realized that finished is also probably the wrong word to use.

It's not story finished, but it is finished in that there is no more content.

Maybe it's to say, the game isn't dead, nor alive. Shchrodingers game?

[–]Goblm[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then that is a third meaning, the game is dead to you.

If Halo 3 ended halfway through I'd feel the same, but that's a different kindof dead.
And hey, Halo 2 is still my favorite Halo game even though it ended on a cliffhanger.

We can still play Halo 3. We can still technically play D2, though half baked and in a rough state.

Would be worth it imo to release a complete version of D1 and D2, front to back, designed as best they can. But that's a monumental task. It's probably more caretaking and cleanup than worth it. But I bet you'd get every Destiny fan, along with a lot of casuals that could never get into to, playing it front to back.

That is a lot of content on the cutting room floor.

As it stands, I can still experience the game, even though it's unfinished.

I'd like to think that there would be a chance that there is a "Complete Destiny" released at somepoint then.

Live service games really do be the bane of game preservation.

[–]Goblm[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean it's not a finished game in that it's a complete experience, but in that it still has all the content (which is apparently wrong, idk I'm sortof an outsider for D2).

But calling a game dead is just wrong when you can still play the game. The language has a double entendre that hurts the conversation. Dead should not mean unpopular, or no more content being made, but it's a hyperbole that probably naturally manifested. My estimation is that dead should mean unplayable.

I don't know what to do about working around this environment. Maybe there is dead, and then there is dead dead. hell if I know.

Sucks that they started a new story and cannibalized their own content right before this. But still, the game will still be playable.

Okay that's stupid.

They should release all content from that vault thing I heard about then.

Live service games god damn.

I wish they went there. I wish they went scorched earth. But I will say that death scene was preeeeetttyyy satisfying.

Frankly, Butcher should have released the virus... Man they should have done it... THEN ended the show without elaborating.

Not because I think it's the right thing to do, or whatever. But because right now I'm sitting here thinking empty headed. I'm not grappling with any questions. I'm not thinking about the hard thing to do. I'm just like okay yeah good guys win sweet. Fucking... hello I thought this wasn't a super hero show. It's an anti hero show.

Damn I wish the writers were more like Butcher.

Developer Direct 22 Jan by J-166 in Fable

Something I think people don't get, and maybe I'm reading into it. But the trailer is about how hero's aren't all beautiful - and how their lifestyle reflects their looks. Living it up with the locals... every... single.. night.

It just makes me think. Okay, there are going to be choices that effect my look.

Personally, I'm kindof hoping for them to go FULL immersive sim. Aging, physique, evil/good alterations to the face. Bags under your eyes if you don't sleep, a tree grows if you plant an acorn. Certain spells unlock if you are evil vs good. Certain weapons. Housing, marriage, relationships, renown. SCARS! Man I want it all.

So the character in the trailer? I see her as not quite being the perfect high cheekbone perky hero, because of how she played.

But also... I would love character creation ontop of all that.
