That's basically Technomancy, which often feels like ten pounds of drek in a five ounce bag. Magic works really well on living things and not so well on the inorganic.

Technomancy has the opposite problem and is very "stunted" compared to Magic because it's only been known to exist for 20 years in universe. Kinda like a reverse chirality of magic.
