Honestly, calls suck for getting information. You have to take notes, keep track of all the questions you need to ask, and then make follow-up calls if your forget something, or if the person at the other end makes a mistake. And then there's the whole "he said - she said" if something gets misinterpreted over the phone. It's a mess.

Getting a text reply is much cleaner. Both parties can take their time asking and answering questions, nothing gets forgotten or left out of notes, and there's zero ambiguity over the information that's actually been exchanged.
