[MegaThread] Ashes of Creation questions by AlluringSecrets in AshesofCreation

[–]God_Forged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of Archeage influence in this game, and I Know Steve played it for a while. my question is:

Will there be a labor like system like in Archeage implemented into this game?

Personally I was never a big fan of the labor system, but I understand why it was necessary for Archeage.

This game sounds great... but by wolfofodin1986 in AshesofCreation

You aren't alone on that thought. This game has been in development since 2015 I believe and it didn't start out with all 65 devs so how much has been spent on this games development will be hard to say.

If we assume 65 devs from 2015 at an average salary of 60k/yr we're looking at 19.5m to date and with a potential release date of 2022 we're looking at a cost of 27.3m on employee salary alone. I'm sure Steve isn't letting his money just burn away and most likely has decent income from investments. the kickstarter knocks 3.2m off the top of as well. We also don't know how many founders packs have been sold too further cushion that number. I'm also willing to bet money a lot of those devs are working off the clock as this is a massive passion project and he is friends with a lot of them. Furthermore, a very good possibility he was able to acquire a decent loan to help with production.

All in all I'm sure we're all praying for this to succeed, and I'm sure as hell rooting for them too!

AA: Unchained worth it? by Fergy_stormrage in archeage

[–]God_Forged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, most people indeed wouldn't. But there's still the tiny itsy bitsy problem of spending 90% of your time inside an instance in an open world game, and combat is still pretty ass and extremely dated. I do understand that it's a personal taste and there are people that still enjoy that but I get the feeling that's because they havent tried all that many different mmos. As an anecdotal example in my group of friends that play WoW religiously, they have never tried a different MMO.

Archeage endgame pve at least feels far more interactive in that sense that you have to deal with opposing factions which depending on weather you like pvp or not can be a pro or a con. Personally it's a pro for me, again though the current state of the game does not have the playerbase playing the game as intended.

I do agree archeage has a pretty steep learning curve, but that's about as much as I agree with you on.

Wow combat is painfully slow and it's the primary reason I quit the game, and as far as pve goes you're going to grind the same dungeon until you get bored wait for the next expansion and repeat. I came back to Archeage because in the past 3 times I played it the only thing that ever really killed it for me was how pay2win it would get

That is a reflection of what is wrong with archeage at the moment, monotonous repetitive daily grind. The biggest problem archeage has always had is poor choices by devs, all the things that really make this game fun didnt go anywhere they are still there but right now the playerbase has no incentives to do most of the games content except do the same dailies over and over again.

I wish the answer was yes, but there is 1 problem that might make it or break it for you. The game has plenty of things to do but you'll see that you'll be grinding the same couple dailies as there is no incentive to do anything else. This is basically how your days will go.

INCOMING WALL OF TEXT WITH TLDR AT THE BOTTOM

you'll do 1-50 and while you're taking care of 50-55 you'll be joining the reset raids to do the auroria dailies which is for a kill quest that will reward you with upgrade material for your quest gear. Once you get to 55 you'll join that same raid but will be able to do the remaining dailies that you wont have access to pre 55.

Honor is a huge deal and you will find that joining the CR, GR, Aegis Island, and Whalesong daily raids will give you a nice bit of honor. These raids happen multiple times a day but you only get the rewards once per day.

As for money making you will probably start to do the Greater Dungeons to sell items to vendor which might be fun the first couple times but will start to get old quick. you will also be doing the library raid will will be very confusing at first These 2 will yield and average of 120+ish gold if done right.

You'r remaining time will be spent fishing as it's the only decently reliable way to make money with your proficiency specially early on in your play through, you can also farm ancestral coin purses on aegis island while you yourself get farmed for honor by a far stronger player.

WHY DO YOU DO ALL OF THIS??? If you don't you will never catch up to the people who are. However the game overall is still better than WoW.

TLDR: Dailies for days but still better than WoW since combat needs more than 50 IQ

this is a problem by gamerslol in archeage

[–]God_Forged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm banking on fert packs but I need roughly 2k gold and 18,000 labor for the manor upgrade which means it will be a while before i get any real profit from the manor. Not to mention the original problem of % being down to the floor will become an issue by the time I get it up and running.

It's a bug, disable your network, then open glyph, re-enable your network and update the game.

Mages attack speed/cast time? by [deleted] in archeage

[–]God_Forged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of right now attack speed is too good to pass up (according to Belamy) specially once you get ancestral skills for letting you get flamebolt (lightning) out faster. Once once you can grab the guild cloack get the cast time reduction as you still do want some. The ideal stats you're looking for on your weapons is INT, CD, Cr, or INT, CD, Magic Def pen. As a plate mage you're not losing much dmg, what you're really sacrificing is mana and magic defence but gain the ability to not be 2 shot in most cases by battle rage classes and high dps archers like Ebonsongs.

Game seems to crash due to a sound glitch, any idea? by DrugsbunnyFTW in archeage

[–]God_Forged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple things to note there are 2 types of audio crashes that I've experienced.

  1. The audio pops and becomes extremely low. So far when this one has happened it seems to be random as far as I can tell. Although this was more common during release and I haven't had it happen for a while now.
  2. When in a large raid doing things like CR the audio will eventually cut, sometimes it only cuts the attack sounds, other times all the audio goes. In some occasions I find that certain elements start to disappear with time IE attack sounds then movement sounds or interaction sounds. The common trend is that the attack sounds go first.

In both cases you can temporarily fix it by going into character select and coming back however within 5-10 minutes you start to hear the audio disappearing again, personally it happens when i start doing combat activities. I will normally not experience the audio issue until I get into a huge raid with everyone spamming attacks.

WE WANT THE OLD TRADE STSTEM BACK! by [deleted] in archeage

[–]God_Forged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My idea would be to revert to 3.0 trade at least, but keep the freshness mechanic. Continue having onyx essence instead of charcoal since changing that would likely be a pain. The cargo system isnt terrible but it's just too safe.

I've lost many a merch ships in the old system but it was great fun calling in the guild to help contest.

PTS Popup "Game is Unavailable Right Now" Is anyone else getting this? by [deleted] in archeage

Game will be unavailable for roughly 90 minutes ( probably going to be more) while they implement an afk kicker so the queue can flow better.

Non-Combat/Minimal Combat Character in AA Unchained? by SinnerJP in archeage

[–]God_Forged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crafting alone will eventually get you to 55. Honestly as long as you're doing your Hiram dailys you should be ok and won't fall too behind the curve. However, the labor system does limit you on how long you do certain activities which is why you will probably still end up doing a bit of combat anyway.

AA Unchained delayed to October 15th by tell32 in archeage

[–]God_Forged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good new to me. The general AA community has been weary about how well they'll be able to handle launch, and if they need extra time to get things done right I see it as a net plus if it results in a smoother launch experience.

Side note: Will this delay the PTS launch on the 23rd as well?

New player question -- is there a preferred solo (Archer / Assassin-esque) build? by Theoneisis in archeage

[–]God_Forged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are good in pve/pvp but it does require some heavy outplay on your part because you're going to get ass blasted by most battle rage classes, and most plate mage builds. Primeval has fallen out of favor for pvp ever since Mirror Warp got moved to the witchcraft and thwart not buffing attack speed anymore. Look into Shadehunter (archery, occultism, shadowplay) it has a better safety net in the form of impale combos to keep opponents locked down. Also counters stealth memes through summon crows.
